Hi,
Went to see the nurse today (diabetic, me not her) about glycerine due to the bottle warnings stating not suitable.
She was happier that I quit and told me not to worry about the contents, she even asked for the forum URL after I explained all the support given here.
I must say I feel so much better after 1.5 weeks of vaping, within this time I have had 4 Ciggs and that's not a problem for me as it should have been a few hundred.
I think if I need a cigarette I will have one as once I get my vaping customised to my needs I will be tobacco free. It’s a bit hit and miss at first and a lot is down to personal taste/habit.

Ant that's good news. You're right about the cigs, count the ones you avoid not the ones you smoke. According to your banner it's about 400 avoided so well done

Well done Ant Definitely the right attidude, don't put yourself under presure to stop the ciggies! You're doing really well so no doubt once you settle with some kit and juice that you really like you'll soon ditch those last couple of ciggies  and you know what? even if you still need a couple of ciggies every day, it's much less than you would have normally smoked |

Strange - I thought I'd mentioned my diabetes previously... (type 2). I'm vaping fine, and my past 3 hbA1c's have been 'normal'. I doubt the glycerine is affecting me at all tbh, so I'd not worry massively about it. Just keep an eye on your blood sugars and you'll notice any obvious changes, and adjust to suit. Note that if there is any liquid you'll pick up extra carbs from, it will be the VG - as it has fructose (or a derivative) in it. Hope this helps Ant. |

Type 2 as well, I have been on Gliclazide for 6 months now and that seems to have fixed me :-)

Me and Gliclazide aren't best buddies, ended up on Metformin (which still gave me problems).
Warning: Whilst what I mention below is true - it is how *I* am affected, and would not necessarily work the same for you.
When I started smoking again, I noticed that I kept getting close to having hypo's. The doc said it couldn't be the Metformin, but I was convinced it was. I stopped taking them, and my sugars are now 'normal'.
Now, while I do not smoke, my vaping accounts for a similar amount of nicotine. I am now drug (as far as diabetes is concerned) and smoke free, and a much happier camper for it.
The doc, on the other hand, is still scratching her head as to how I am able to handle my sugar levels correctly now without drug assistance. Part of it may be the weight I lost (3 stone) when I started smoking initially, but that does not account for what is *supposed* to be happening with my pancreas.

ooops!
over the past few months I stopped testing my blood sugar as it was stable, I will have to test in an hour. For the past 6 months I have been on 6 (now down to 4) Met and 1/2 a glic.
Pleased your drug free now, hope I can do the same, it's nasty stuff
