Just made a rushed silica wick setup for it and it's working great. Like a posh RTA

Did you make a coil 1st oneday? Petar Kay method?
If so, try and make the top of wick fatter by, as Lazydog says, wiggling a needle/pin in the centre and then replacing it in the coil

So the general view is that my coils are too loose, thanks guys. I did use the Peter Kay method, but will try tightening them as suggested.
Steve - what diameter wick have you used?

Has anyone tried sanding down the top caps yet? Mine are directly opposite the wick hole.

Oneday, move your 2 top nuts closer to the top of the post, having your coils touching the mesh is also important. 4 coils of 0.212 nichrome gives 1.8 ohm Plenty Vapour

There should be a spare nut in the little bag that can be used on the centre post. That would give you more room for the coil.

Oneday, I find that if you get a hotspot where you say, it's either the wick is too far away from the centre post, OR, too near. Try nudging it away from that centre post. I often get hotspots there initially. But sort it by adjusting the gap. I find space between coils hasn't really gotta be that accurate to be honest.
