They could theoretically make changes almost instantly - if they wanted to.

BUT - don't panic - they won't. They will give a reasonable notice period for companies to adjust.

If they are looking at licencing then it will probably be a couple of years to allow companies time to get thing sorted.

Fingers crossed that it won't come to that though.

Well if they give a notice period everyone will panic buy and buying nic base will be like getting your hands on rocking horse s&!t

One possible problem we may face in the short term is the panic buying of Nicotine. There is every likelyhood that any restrictions imposed as a result of the MHRA will take a couple of years to bite. So we may have bigger problems coming from the EU before that, which could take effect as early as autumn. Or, if we are fortunate, EU regs may be postponed until after the 2014 Euro elections. The problem is that people will base their buying patterns on not what will happen, but what MIGHT happen, causing suppliers to run out of stock. Hopefully, they will have plenty of time to re stock before the excrement makes contact with the rotary ventilation apparatus.

Just to be a bit less dramatic, what the MHRA announce doesn't have any real effect on us.
They can only regulate medicines and medical devices, which e-cigs are not (possibly yet.)

But I suspect they wield a lot of influence and along with NICE may well be used to influence MEPs.

I think that headline is about public places. But if they are a medicine that will be hard to make law, and if so would that include any other NCP?

I think (or hope) the MHRA are not stupid enough to withdraw these from the shelf straight away.

With the number of current users, which is growing daily, that should help to rally the troops.

Over the last 3 months I have managed to stock up on 17ltrs of base a mix of 75mg & 54mg the freezer is filling up but I hope they see sense and not condemn people to go back to smoking
