Gave up the fags middle of January. I have given up before, but due mainly to gaining a stone in weight started to smoke again Vapeing punctuates my day as did smoking. When I stop for cup of tea I vape not eat. That's the biggest thing for me I also enjoy the hobbie side mixing/mods that kind of thing The only down side is that I do spend a lot more time in front of the pc and the I pad

My story is something like this: Patches: (4 weeks of use) did nothing except make me itch and sweat on high nic dose --- Result --- Still smoked --- Fail Nic throat spray: (2 uses) burnt the fook out out my mouth as if I had decided to spray battery acid into my mouth --- Result --- Still Smoked --- Fail (although kept for use as a pepper spray!) Gum: (4 months of use) some of it tasted like dog poo but 1 brand was actually ok. Used it for 4 months but I still smoked on top. --- Result --- Still Smoked --- Fail (Although my breath didn't smell as bad.) Small mint things: (about 2 months use) Same story as the Gum except I got diarrhea when I ate them! --- Result --- Still Smoked --- Fail Inhaler: (3 months) Made me cut down on the smokes but not stop. Kept on losing the bloody thing and having to fork out for a new one. Got more stressed and peed off resulting in packing it in. --- Result --- Still Smoked --- Fail Champix: (1 week 2 days) At 1st, didn't notice anything, but by about the 4th day, I noticed I was smoking less cigs. On the second week (bigger tablets) I had severe acid reflux, feeling sick, "spaced out / drugged up" feeling... (I actually didn't feel as if I was the same person) --- Result --- Advised by doctor to stop taking them --- Went back to smoking --- Fail eCig (disposable): lasted me 2 days and I didn't smoke. Got a rechargeable "set" and still didn't smoke. Upgraded to an ego and still didn't smoke. Upgraded to an ego twist and still didn't smoke. Upgraded to a Lavatube chrome and still didn't smoke. Upgraded to a Vamo and still don't bloody smoke 1 year on. (Although I have contracted a variation of "Shineyitus" I call it "Poorman's Shineyitus" lol) Fook You MHRA, go take your NRT and insert the lot up your arse sideways! You don't have a fooking clue about anything except how to squeeze money from everyone you robbing bastards!

I loved smoking but wanted to give up for health, cost and smell reasons - but did I tell you I LOVED smoking! Only 2 serious attempts to give up in nearly 30 years of smoking. Patches were a minor success and I gave up for 18 months - but in that 18 months I thought about cigarettes a lot, was hell to live with and even became depressed. I might have got through the physical addiction to nicotine but it was willpower that kept me off them for that long and it was almost a daily battle to not have one. I got my Riva and intended to mix smoking and vaping, maybe having 3 or 4 cigarettes a day. Used my Riva and haven't had a cigarette since - I still have 17 B&H in the cupboard. I have tried 2 small draws of someone else's cigarette just to see what it was like and it was disgusting - won't be doing it again! I'm not quite 4 months in so can't say it's a resounding success yet, I feel as if I will have to be off the cigarettes for longer than my previous stop smoking attempt before I can say that. But this time, within a week of starting to vape, I felt I'd 'cracked' it! I'm not thinking about cigarettes all the time (when I do I'm reminded of my 2 draws and it turns my stomach) I'm not moody, I'm not depressed and I prefer vaping to smoking

In over four years I've smoked a single cigar at a wedding (only inhaled accidentally on lighting) and a couple of puffs of a friends cigarette when I'd switched for a year out of curiosity. Although I don't miss them, my brain chemistry misses the MAOIs which is probably why I need SSRIs.

I started using a 901 back in Feb '09, managed to cut down from 30 odd a day to between 5 and 10 a day, this went on for several months and I was really pleased, unfortunately my mum passed away and my smoking went straight back up and I could not get back down to 5 a day again even though I was still using the ecig, I finally managed to quit tobacco in May '12 and I have found it so easy so far. So from a humble 901 to my latest Twists, Ego's and Lavatube I finally made it , and I hope and pray I never have to go back to tobacco cigarettes ever again .

^ Vaping in 2009 was a whole different ballgame, I had 5 different batteries in rotation changing every two hours (if I was lucky), barely usable juice from China and a bucket of dead atomizers oh and prices were ridiculous compared to now...£20 for a bottle of TW red label and £10 for atomizers and 280mah batteries that would break at the slightest sniff of a leaky, gurgling 901 atty. Don't be so hard on yourself, with all those obstacles I can imagine anyone switching back. Kids these days don't know how good they have it .

Not had a ciggie for two years Took me a couple of months of cutting down and vaping at the same time, i got down to one ciggie a night and then i run out of them so thought im not buying anymore. Took a certain amount of will power, but im so glad i did it. Bel! Where have you been, the other wombles have been really worried, but I told them you would be back. They're really hungry as well

Caved in after about 8 months after a very stressful time. Bought a pack of ten, smoked a couple and was so disgusted I chucked 'em in the bin and haven't looked back since.

Well... looking at the poll results so far, it appears it's the polar opposite of the current NRT products on the market (sorry, meant on Big Pharma's legalised rip-offs). I know it's not thousands of voters, but decisions have been made on far less numbers. Sorry DiscoDes, don't want to reveal the numbers unless people have voted, but from the comments already I think they will have an idea.

No worries Raffles More "evidence" at how wide of the mark that MHRA rubbish was. COME ON PEOPLE KEEP on with the poll, I'd like to see another 100 participants at least! And a BIG thank you to those that have voted.
