OK, it looks like less & less suppliers are selling RN4081 parts. The first e-cig I bought in early July 2008 was an RN4081 super-mini from Jason (Pillbox/TW) I was gob smacked with it & from the very first day of using it, I wanted to tell the world about e-cigs - so I did do so at every opportunity, starting with posting on any threads on eBay forums about giving up smoking - the rest is history Back to the RN4081. I recommended this e-cig to so many people in the past. These days I often worry that I may have been wrong to recommend this model (bear in mind at that time you had little choice). Yes I found out a few months later that the mini (DSE901) produced more vapour & the penstyle DSE801 had larger carts - they where your only choices. Boy has the e-cig world moved on! But & a big BUT. Atomisers are still the weakest link. So many new ones have come to the market but IMHO their is just one atomiser that stands out for longevity - the RN4081. Lol, gets down from soap box

Info for MM re cartomisers : Cartomisers are basically a cartridge (mouthpiece) with a built in atomiser & they just screw straight on to a battery. They come either prefilled with juice or without any juice in them. Both types can be refilled several times over. However, they die much more quickly than most other atomisers but this is reflected in the price. Even buying them in the UK, you can get a pack of five for about £6 -£8. To begin with the only cartomis(z)ers available where the K808 ones. Although they had the same thread as a DSE901 mini, they didn't work on the mini battery (without either modification or an adapter) due to a lack of an air hole in the cartomiser. Next thing to come along was the the 510 cartomiser.(I've bought some but still not got round to using one, so please excuse my lack of knowledge on these). This time, as far as I know, they screw straight onto & work well with any 510 battery. Now according to this website, cartomisers are being made for just about every model & this may be the way forward for RN4081 users? www.andindustries.com/index.aspJust so not sure about that seller, mainly due to the stupid claims they make

MM, if you decide to try them, don't forget to use the discount code WINTERWARMERS - it's case sensitive so must be typed in capitals. I'm just going to edit my post, it could easily lead peeps into typing in the code in lower case and getting rejected EDIT - no I'm not, I can't find it Sowwy! scylla

Hi you two!! Thanks for that info - I think things are a bit clearer now!!! I've had another email from that Alex in reply to mine. I will post it on the other thread where I started this. My head is spinning, I had to change my bank account recently (beginning of April) switching everything has been hell. Everyday there has been a letter etc. MM

One more question before I delve into the world of cartomizers. Would I be able to use my extended mouth piece with them that has the double size juice holder? MM

No you wont be able to use them MM. There would be no way that the cartomiser would be able to wick the juice from them. In any case, cartomisers hold about 3-4 times the amount of juice than ordinary carts. MM, I really only suggested you giving cartomisers a try after seeing them being sold by that Chinese seller when I was looking for RN4081 parts for you

All the cartomizers I have are for the 901; I bought them specifically for use with my GG Slim. I bought an adapter from TW so that I can use them with 510 batteries - the vapour production is better I find. However, they won't fit the Tornado that has a 510 connection, even with the adapter. Jason has announced that cartomizers for the Tornado will be 'coming soon.' I don't know whether this announcement is aimed at the US customers only in view of the impending proposed ban. With only another couple of weeks to go, it's as well to stock up while we can.

Yes, MM, I'm just suggesting you give cartomisers a try - they have a different "feel" to them altogether, but I reckon one pack of 5 would be sufficient for you to accustom yourself to their feel and to their workings - given how many times they can be refilled, and given the fact that they can (it is said, and it's on YouTube) be boiled clean to extend their life even further.

MM, I know you are still happy with your RN4081 super-mini but is there anything we can help you if you are at all thinking of trying a different e-cig model?

The Cartomizers can be really expensive. Health Cabin sells them for $4.50 for a pack of five pre-filled and they fit my 901 and 510 batteries (the latter with an adapter) and work really well. I use the slow postal method as I can wait a couple of weeks and it's very inexpensive. I made a mistake with my current order in that it works out to just over the £18 limit without postage so I may get stung for duty - fingers crossed. I shan't be buying the new cartomizers for the Tornado as I like the look and feel of the units as they are and probably won't be able to use the cosmetic cone with them unless they're very long ones. I also expect them to be expensive. Fox

Hi Chrissie and Scyll. I've not done anything about the cartomizers yet. Nor have I looked into a different model of cig. Quite honestly, I am perfectly happy with my Super but realise there will be a time they are discontinued. At last the time has come!!! I retire as Chairman at RTWAS next Tuesday!!! No more nursing along about 165 members!! Yay! I've got a couple more exhibitions to organise - the Pantiles open air one at end of June and the Lions Club one over the August Bank Holiday. But they are not too bad - as long as the sun shines. Then I can really concentrate on moving from my flat - I have been checking on what is available for me to transfer to. Some have come up where I want to be but as they are for over 55's the turnover is quite good (most of 'em are over 70 - like me). One of my lovely grandsons Liam (19 yrs) came up to help me get stuff that I have been chucking out down to the bins yesterday. Even he didn't like having to come up three flights of stairs (no lift). But he was a great help and offered to come again!! And now the sun is shining, makes my old bones feel much more comfortable. Just thought I would let you know!! MM

MM, Abe of Liberty Flights has helped again. He says the DSE108 batteries he sells, work perfectly with the RN4081 atomisers. www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=12Happy retirement MM I hope you find somewhere lovely (& without all those stairs) to move to soon :_*
