Thanks girls, it is pretty horrific, they took a sizeable chunk of him out last time and the surgeon says it'll be a more radical op this time around they might decide to not stitch it andleave it open with packing, can take months to heal that way, but it's not as likely to recur, have to wait n see... Hope Summer has ordered an ecig for her mum

Oh Lilac, no wonder you are so worried & your son is so depressed about it *Has had experience of packing & leaving a wound open to drain after an op & know it's not a very pleasant experience to say the least*

Thanks guys, i've just called the hosp, they were going to keep him in overnight, cos he's got packing, but he wanted to come home so they've agreed to let me pick him up at 6 and the district nurse to come out early tomorrow... They said he's doing well, but in a bit of pain, which means he's in agony they were just loading up a shot of morphine for him now that the anaesthetic has worn off... lets hope this op will be an end to it

I bet he will be so relieved to be home Lilac. Poor lad though hope the morphine makes him feel more comfortable.

Hope so Chrissie, cos i'll suffer if it doesn't...lol it's mostly cos of where it is, just above his buttocks, so he won't be able to sit or lie on his back... just hope it heals fairly fast, took a couple of months last time, and it was stitched then, so it'll take longer this time, there's a diary on the net somewhere about a guy who's wound took almost a year to heal over, as it got infected a few weeks after the op... If it takes it away, it'll be worth it tho, no more blood & pus over his clothes..
