Okay, so I`ve just recently bought a new DNA30 from Foclecig. It`s working great, much improved on the very first ones. I now have two and decided to do something I have been wanting to try for a while. I also have a redundant MVP languishing in the cupboard with nothing to do but sulk. I decided to try and combine the two by transferring the MVP`s batteries (there are two 2200mah batteries in them) into the older DNA30 to try and give it some decent capacity. It should make it into a 4400mah device.
The batteries are slightly too big (and I mean slightly). This can be overcome by ever so slightly bowing the lid, that`s all that is needed for it to fit snug and not put any pressure on the batteries.
The first thing to do after connecting everything up was to see if the batteries would charge okay (they were showing a red indication on the MVP). Kept a close eye on them while they were charging, no signs of overheating at all, red led on, on the DNA30. Eventually changed to green and stopped charging. No signs of any heat anywhere. So it`s ready for a stress test.
I`m going to vape on it normally until the batteries need re charged. The batteries are a year old so maybe not have the capacity of when they were new. So it will be about 15 watts. The MVP was only designed to cope with 11 watts so not sure how it will cope but suspect it will be fine. It`s certainly working well at the moment, no signs of overheating at all. It`s hard to find any firm info on the batteries. If it works out okay I`ll try and source them in particular because they fit so well.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME IF YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRONICS IS NOT UP TO IT.
