Had to happen eventually, vapemail stolen by a courier. I had ordered some Ethyl Maltol from a reputable vendor, who then sent them by a carrier called Hermes, and what arrived at the door was a jiffy containing a lead weight. I know Hermes delivered it, as it was dropped next door and they put a card through the letterbox. Now, in all the time my stuff has been dropped off by RM, not one item has gone missing, but this lot - they have a track record of items going missing. From now on I'll be checking what post the vendors use before placing an order and if it's Hermes or Yodel, it's off to another vendor for me.

Hermes use self employed car owner/drivers, so some are ok, some aren't. My Hermes driver here is really good and once asked me if any time I wasn't in, which neighbour or where would I prefer her to leave it. Yodel on the other hand, seem to be pants wherever you are!

That is sick. It's one thing to cut a bag open and make it look like it's split. It's a whole other when they replace the contents with a weight to cover their tracks.
This is one that should be persued. Make a complaint. If you get nowhere with that take it to the local press and maybe even the police.
It doesn't matter who the carrier is, surely interfering with the mail is still a capital offence? (fingerprints on the lead)

Weird thing to nick though? Maybe someone thought it was an illicit substance? Not everyone knows what Ethyl Maltol actually is! Some party peeps will try anything. I've seen idiots druggies some peeps getting 'high' snorting icing sugar! They get a psychological 'fix' just by the act.

I'm afraid that's the sorry state of our country at the moment (won't go any further in this thread). A vicious circle... we all need things cheaper, the companies want more profits... so the guy in the middle, i.e. the employee or sub contractor gets squeezed.
I deal with at least a dozen couriers each day that I'm in work, and I wouldn't do their job. Most are self employed, saving their employer (contractor) money, and have to make over 100 deliveries each day to just pay their van rental and fuel, before any wage they take.
They are, in the majority, decent, honest guys and gals, being driven into the floor with the hours they have to work. There was one incident, where I had apparently signed for an expensive package which couldn't be found, until I realised I wasn't in work that day, but the drivers get to know your name.

Had it happen to me just this week, Thankfully Decadent vapours where very good about it and sent it again, at the moment we are having a lot of temp’s as post persons, Decadent always seem to use very inviting envelopes and packaging… I have a feeling that the post person liked the look of the posh green bubble envelope.
For the sake of an extra £1 I will have recorded in future, I didn't know this until it was pointed out to me on the phone.

Do you really think he went to the trouble of opening the parcel, taking out the item, replacing it with a lead weight and then resealing it? ...surely it would have been much easier for him to just put it down as a missing parcel? As a Hermes courier myself I know that not all couriers are honest...but believe me if you want to do that sort of thing and I hasten to add that I personally don't, there are much easier ways...I would be looking to the vendor.

Oh believe me, I've already got the vendor involved. This one's not going to go quietly. Edit : At this point I'm inclined to give the vendor the benefit of the doubt, knowing and thanks for reinforcing that, padiho, that private delivery firms nick stuff routinely. But who will come out of this one looking like a bunch of shysters?

Dave I am merely pointing out that there are easier ways than how you describe ...I have had parcels go missing from RM, Amazon,Yodel etc. My point is exactly that...they go missing.

There's good and bad in every occupation... bags go missing in airports... millions go missing in banking. I doubt if couriers have any worse reputation. Just saying. Hope it gets resolved.

Been over a week now and no reply to email from the vendor. Sorry Vapershack, if you can't even be bothered to reply to a request to investigate theft in the mail, you're not getting any more business from me. Avoid them and other firms who use Hermes.

Well I've just this morning delivered 147 parcels. All hidden and carded for those that are not in. I think you'll find that Hermes are one of the few companies that will leave most of them without a signature. The majority of people prefer this as they get their parcel without the hassle of having to stay in to receive it. Yesterday however I had 163. Two of which I actually handed to the customer, just had a call from my boss stating that the customer denies receiving them...there goes my bonus for yesterday!!! It isn't just some couriers who are dishonest!!!
