It's fair to say I'm a creature of habit, I don't upgrade my gear very often and every time I have, it's been based on the advice I've had from here.
I started off on a Riva nearly 3 years ago and got through about 6 of them over the course of 18 months. Then I went with a Vamo which blew it out of the water (V1 or poss V2). I love the Vamo, have a good charger, about 6 18650s (ave 1500mah), went for a couple of Kanger Evods, a million or so coil heads, a gallon or 3 of HS Premium Menthol Sensation juice and and happily puffed away for over a year. Like I said, creature of habit.
Good things about the Vamo are that it gives a great vape primarily. Things that drive me nuts about it are that's it's so massive, I'd like something smaller but no less powerful. The threading drives me crazy - because I use Evods, they just get stuck and I have to unscrew the bottom bit with pliers to get it out of the Vamo every time I refill.
I've had a read through some threads and have narrowed it down to:
1) A more up to date Vamo that perhaps doesn't have the same threading issues - I'm familiar with it, it vapes well and I can still use my other bits of kit with it. Still big though! It's cheap though and I could probably dump my battery stash and start afresh with a few new and longer lasting ones and spend more on good tanks for it. 2) A Zmax 3 - on the basis that it seems similar to the Vamo but appears a bit more well made. Still a bit big though, although I could do the telescopic thing and just buy some more 18350s. 3) An Istick - big move away from what I'm used to but should give a good vape and is a bit less huge. I think I'd probably need two though to avoid it running out of charge while I'm out and about.
Could I have your thoughts, please?
Also, I hate the evods but I don't know where to begin on the tank front. Does anyone know the most long-lasting ones where I can just replace the coil heads. I could do with a larger one for home use and a mini one that doesn't look too big while out and about. Preferably ones that would use the same coil heads that I could just buy a huge stash of.
It's been a while since spending anything on my gear so have got about £100-£120 to spend but I'd like to spend wisely on stuff that will last and that's built well.
Suppose I'd better try some new juices too to see how they've come on. Are there any nice menthols that have that sweet flavour like Menthol Sensation that I just have to try.
Thanks ever so much guys.
Jo

I like my wee istick, and it's only £30. People have had bad experiences with the centre pin though, so would be good for them to chip in.

Hiya Jo happy to offer advice and help with pricing and links. Often it helps to know your lifestyle but you've given loads of info Off the top of my head I'm thinking mini nautilus and istick (for small long lasting) and the larger version nautilus with a battery thats vv/vw and takes removable batteries (like vamo or zmax) and probably a cheap airflow adapter on to protect threads - as they all have threads that can be wrecked easily. At least that way you only need nautilus coils for both the 2ml and 5ml tanks. Rather than buying a pair of isticks you could buy an external powerbank for £10 to top it up in emergencies, but its a 2200 battery, it'd take some doing to run out in the course of a day!

if you're happy to buy from classifieds... I've just noticed that Taz has a vaporshark dna 30 up for £70 now that's a very small mod with inbuilt battery and very good threads. You wouldn't go wrong with that as sensible buy, price is very fair too. I buy most of my gear via the classifieds as I'm not into having the latest gear brand new, I've a vaporshark and although its stated as a 1600 battery ( I think) it seems to last absolutely ages as its a lipo battery. Its a micro usb charge cable so its very easy to charge up using your phone plug (if you have usb) or from a small external powerbank. The rubber case is rather tactile and it will fire at 0.5 ohms and up. Anyway, its just a thought, if you are interested just ask Taz about it and hes a very obliging chap who will happily clarify its capabilities

Ahaaa, powerbank, I hadn't thought of that, thank you. So I could buy an istick & nautilus mini for out and about and perhaps a newer vamo/zmax with larger tank for at home - that'd leave a bit of cash left to stock up on coils to last a while. I've ordered all my previous stuff from Fasttech but they've been small orders before - if I do a larger order like this one, do many people get stung by customs or is it worth separating the order into smaller chunks to try and avoid. Thank you for the advice - very much appreciated. I'm orf to do a bit of research on the dna now too.

I too order a fair amount from fasttech, you dont have to split your orders but its probably wise! not because of import tax, more so it doesnt all get lost China lies about parcel costIf fasttech describe an item as 'authentic' then it is the real deal, so you can get a fair few aspire nautilus items so if you get an istick from there (£20) little nautilus and large £14.50 and 5 replacement coils are £6.50 so you can order most of what you need there if you aren't in a rush

p.s bonnieboy I only own ONE istick and my teenager has it all the time.... Santa is bringing her a pink one and in despair I've ordered a silver as its 6weeks until Christmas and I want my istick back! So logically I will have the one, she'll have two? or more likely I will still have none - she'll steal mine and tell me My/her other two are abandoned at her mates...or just lost around home. I'm actually considering attaching a homing fob to them... so I can press the alert and hunt it under sofa/on bookshelf/under bed/behind tv/ ect ect

Hi Jo, my better half Mrs Poo is also a creature of habit! For about a year she's used her aero tanks on top of a provari filled with red Astaire, she's gone through about 3 litres of the stuff! The aero tanks though... Solid as a rock, really reliable and dual coiled, the vape is very very agreeable, and that's from me who has just about every rated atty available. They're glass and halfway between a Evod and an RBA in size, and you can buy the heads from FT for 60p each. If you're interested then for a short time the aero tanks are only £7 each from Steve at vapestorm.co.uk, which is an absolute bargain because he's shutting up shop unfortunately. I'd buy 3 or 4, and 5 packs of heads from FT, and that would leave you £60-£80 for a nice mod (or two)

I like a good crackle :-) Need to choose between the aerotank, protanks or Nautilus now and then I'm done. Decisions, decisions.
Thank you everyone for all your help, you're a wonderful group!

Personally, I'd get Aerotanks from Steve (VapeStorm) and maybe a Nautilus or Nautilu mini, just for variety. There is so little difference between the Aerotank and Protank, other than the Aerotank has adjustable airflow. You can get a separate airflow controller for the Protank, but that just makes it an Aerotank. The price Steve has reduced his to is better value
