hi all - which fountain would you recommend and why - right now we have this - but only after a few months the pump slowed down - and I read it's better to get a stainless steel or a ceramic one thanks for any good idea

i just let the tap dribble but as far as motors go ceramic will outlast most you may find if you strip it down you can replace the motor with a rc motor (dont get a gofaster one or the water might hit the roof lol)strip it down and pop down to your local modle shop

I can heartily recommend this oneWe bought one when our Milly arrived, she spent most of her time sitting IN the sink waiting for a drip to hit her on the head. We've now had it 6 years, its been running 24/7 all that time, I have set it up on a timer so that it runs for 5 minutes every ½ hour between 8am and 10pm and it has NEVER missed a beat. In fact it was so good that I bought another 5, one we use in the cattery (on request) and the other 4 I sold to customers, and I have never had a complaint. Our 8 cats use it in preference to any other drinking bowl and our gingers have even worked out the timer, they sit and wait for it to turn on (and they're normally less than a minute out)

I cant remember where I bought mine, I think it was a site called vetuk or something, I did all the groundwork and found a massive variation in the online cost, get searching

The other advantage is has over some of the others is that it works like a waterfall, the water comes out of the spout almost like a tap running. Some of them just let water run over a dome, it doesn't get the same response. Just be aware that you will have a wet floor to start with, because it's a novelty they tend to 'play' with the pouring water, batting it around the room Easily solved by standing it on an old towel until they get used to it

Our cats drink out of a water feature fountain we tried the ones made for cats and they didn't like it, I think we got it in a pound land type of place cost £20 about 5 years ago. Only one of our cats refuses to drink out of it. Most drink out of the bath tap as well or drinking glass.
