I did lots of research on building coils and I understand the importance of not going over the rated ampheres of the battery. I know there are risks of batteries exploding, and I did purchase a reliable ohm meter and voltmeter. I've got a friend who's guiding me into coils, the only thing I want to know is, what would be a good build? if a single coil build is good and works great for flavour and clouds... than I'll stick with one coil. I'm no expert and my previous device is just a noob protank and ego. I'm well aware of the dangers and of course I have someone to guide me besides doing research on forums. Does it really matter what set ups I have used in the past? I mean if that's the case, I would have purchased an atlantis if i were going into sub ohms. I don't mean to jump the gun or anything, but if I were to purchase an upgrade.. I am willing to learn. If the sub ohms and mechs are an official cult gang that are restricted to 'pros only' I wouldnt be creating this thread anyway

vincy2699 - no, it's definitely not a gang and we as a forum pride ourselves on the fact that we're not elitist in any way, we just want people to be safe. My recommendation would be to start with a single microcoil, around 1.8 ohms. Then when you have mastered that, move on to dual coils @ 1.8ohms each, giving you combined ohms of 0.9. A very safe first step into sub ohming. Then start thinking about quads and lower ohms. If you're used to using a protank anyway, the difference between that and an RDA with a microcoil at 1.8 will be like night and day. If I had gone from a protanks to a 0.2ohm RDA at 30watts plus, I think I would have fainted with both the choking and the nic overdose! Also remember that you will definitely need to reduce your nic % as the RDA is a much more effective delivery method.

I done (put silly watts here) on some big box sub ohm thingy at the vape lab, just about held the cough in with a quick drink off coffee.....gave it straight back to the guy and stuck with my 12watts Kayfun.....

The impression that I got was " Hey, What's your previous set up bro? if you never used an RDA.. just go with something easy so your battery doesn't blow up. " I mean, comon. It'd do me a lot more help by telling me which build at what ohms you would recommend is a sweet spot or at least give some real advice. If im missing a vital equipment, I get it. I hope this isn't one of those, 'you're not good enough at something. please stop' I understand there are a lot of people that blow up their mods. But not everyone's brain is buried up their a**ses. I just want to know what are the common RDA builds you guys are on and how'd you manage it.. share the knowledge.

Calm down, we are all born knowing nothing.
I build for 12 watts as that's what I vape at, choose a coil arrangement and target (watts) and start from there, I can't tell you what you vape at?
You have had some good advice which member have spent time typing and more will come if you so choose to listen.
I'm of out, (maybe best!) im sure others will advise.

Chill pill, we are all born knowing nothing. I build for 12 watts as that's what I vape at, choose a coil arrangement and target (watts) and start from there, I can't tell you want you vape at? You have had some good advice which member have spent time typing and replying to and more will come if you so choose to listen. I'm of out, (maybe best!) im sure others will advise. A nice warm vape would be best on a single? Hoping not to miss out on the flavours. I'm still waiting on the rda to arrive soon. I've used my buddy's tugboat v2 and it was a super vape running a single parallel build. Best to keep it below 20A at the moment until find a good batt.. I'm not so keen on regulated, I think it's because of box mods. I'm still liking the clean look of a mech. After I saw a tugboat on top of a nemesis, couldn't resist! added: I apologize if I sounded rude, wasn't intended .. just hoping to get better replies instead of everyone repeating the same thing. Stay safe everyone let's get back to topic.

But what you seemed to be asking is for a quick route to high watts and clouds.
There is no quick route. You have to find your own way gradually.
We're all about safety here and can offer advice as you build your way to your target.
As said before. You have to crawl before you can walk, before you can run. You only joined this forum a short while ago (how I missed that I don't know) and seem to be jumping in at the deep end.
By the by, I get masses of cloud and flavour from a dual coiled fogger running just 15watts (1.04ohms). It's surprising how far you can get just by increasing the VG in your juice.
It ain't just about buying kit and building low, it's a learning curve.

vincy2699 To be fair you have been given, and continue to be, a lot of good advice. Your original post came across as "Hi I just bought a new Ferrari, I have never driven before but should I use nitrous or aircraft fuel to go really fast." The reason you were asked about your experience was not to check out your street cred as vapour but to understand what your knowledge level is so answers can be appropriate. If I come on here asking about a build one of the folks here is going to explain to me in simple language about twists/half twists, gauges etc etc. If someone with more experience comes on the answers are going to be presented differently. Secondly there is a genuine concern with vapours around safety particularly with sub-ohming that pushes batteries to the absolute limits. Quad builds will be very very low. They will will put HUGE pressure on batteries. Their questions come from a genuine concern for your safety - not to check if you are cool enough. Thirdly you ask about the best build. There is no best build. There is a build that will suit you, particularly as you go beyond a basic set up. The strong recommendation in this thread (as I see it) is start to learn to build a coil. A single coil. Then enjoy the fruits of your labour. It is incredibly satisfying to do that. Once you have mastered that build a dual coil and slowly go into sub-ohming - if you decide that is what you want to do. That is the advice given, if you don't like it fair enough. but don't tell people they are not helping. The build advice is a micro-coil. There are some really fancy builds out there. This guy does some weird and wonderful stuff. www.youtube.com/channel/UCoczvPNDGbc8OosM-PbUl-A . Including one that will apparently will make you "jizz in your pants when trying out this badboy" BTW it is not just us look at his thread www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/coil-builds/640047-new-rda-first-coil-build-advice.html. Recognise this: "Learn about how this stuff works before jumping into wrapping your own coils and such. Always check your builds with a multimeter or ohm reader. When going to drippers, you want to cut your nic down by a level at least. Know what you are doing before you do it. Build safely. Crawl before you walk, walk before you run..." You have got a great RDA and mech there. You now have to learn how to enjoy it.

vincy2699 - my post was certainly not along the lines of "do you have enough vaping street cred to build quad coils". It was, as stated perhaps obtusely, more concerned with your future well-being. The reason that everyone seems to be saying the same thing is, well, because we're all saying the same thing. Start simple, perfect that (which won't happen overnight, but won't take too long), and then gradually open up to dual-coils etc. As lairey says, the difference between the PV with a single microcoil and an PT and Evod combo will be quite enough to keep you on Cloud 9 for a few weeks while you try out all your juices with the new improved vapour and flavour that you'll get. Plus of course you'll be replacing the coil every time because you can My personal favourite vape is with a 1.1ohm coil in a Kayfun/Russian, or dual coil in a PV or Magma coming in at around .9ohm. That works for me, most of the time with a 30A CD Samsung battery in a Caravela clone. Hits the spot nicely, and I can recoil in a couple of minutes. Sure I have an Orchid, and like you am at the start of a learning curve, but I know enough not to try it out at .2ohms because a)it's downright dangerous, and b) I would cough my guts up, which rather takes away the pleasure in my book. As a stopgap while you wait for the RDA to arrive, try building a microcoil for your Protank heads - it's the same principle that you will need in the PV, and once again you need to experiment with cotton wool, CW pads, and rayon; this will give you a fortnight of interesting comparisons and lots of practice rewicking first. When that setup is working sweetly, you will have a tremendously better vape than putting in a stock head. Keep us posted, but please don't accuse us of being elitist; we are more than happy to help, and send us pictures and updates on your progress so that we can further help

I was trying to find 'better" advise than googling builds or ' if I should slow down and learn to crawl before running' wasn't going to help me much..but I seriously do get your point about safety reasons. On the other hand, i'll keep this thread updated once the pictures are taken

You have got a great RDA and mech there. You now have to learn how to enjoy it. I get the part in not rushing things..and to clearify by 'best build' I meant the best so far YOU have tried. it's not what i'd defintely do to be 'cool'. If I were to ask about a dual or quad doesn't necessarily mean I would do it. I was asking if it would affect batteries or maybe slight performance.. nothing about ' street cred or looking cool' im not sure how you get that from my first post. I mean if someone had the money to buy a ferrari, He wants to know how fast and how it handles on different speeds am I right? im not trying to be a big jerk and tell everyonr how I'm getting dizz clouds yo.. That's just not the case, in fact all I wanted to know is how it would affect flavour or maybe vape quality. that being said, you might like a dual but I may not.. so it's all subjective. Otherwise, great advice.

If some of you are still confused.. I specifically said. what is the most 'RECOMMENDED' build.. not the 'Best-out-of-this-world' coil or set up.. A little misunderstanding. I got most of the answers I wanted like micro-coils. check.. 0.3 above to avoid battery risk... check.. single coil wraps... check.. I'm thankful for all these replies. Once again, great comments.

For the plume veil I use .3 kanthal. 8 wraps around a 2mm former gives me 1.4-1.5ohms I build the coil horizontally and I bring it right up to about 1.5mm from the air hole and directly in front of it, I prefer a single coil in this attie. When i build an attie I build it for flavour over vapour, clouds don't interest me at all. For dual coils I build the same horizontal coils but I do 2 x 10 wraps around a 3mm former and I set the coils closer to the center post and they come in at .8-.9 ohms. Dual coils like this only really come alive at about 18w and upwards. Far too intense a vape for my pallet though. Make sure whatever battery you use is up to high amp draws if you're going for very low sub ohming, for example - a .2ohm build with a fresh battery putting out 4.2v will also be pushing out 21amps. Only high end high drain batteries can handle a constant discharge at that kind of power. for builds like this you need to make sure that the battery can handle a good 5 amps above what you require it to provide to ensure safety and not over working the battery. I don't want to sound condescending but please do your research before you jump in mate and think safety above all else
