Hey all, ‘2015 may well be the most crucial year for ecigs. It may be the year that determines the future of vaping and ecigs’. We have a brand new blog post from our in house blogger Roger. In this piece we take a look at vaping in 2014 and what we can expect looking forward into the rest of 2015. He looks at where the money is in the tobacco industry, the EU's TPD, public perception, improvements in technology and more. Essential reading. Feedback is welcomed! What he says makes a lot of sense. If ecigs were banned tomorrow or made so inaccessible, or god forbid made more expensive than smoking, sadly I would have to admit I would be back on tobacco fags again. HMRC have probably taken less tax off me in 2 months than 1 packet of tobacco, and that has been VAT on locally bought ejuice. The equipment has mainly come from China and come through untaxed. So Mr Osborne will be thinking good and hard on how to replace that lost tax. Multiply the lost revenue off 100g of tobacco sales every week just from me, and multiply that by the thousands of new converts that's a lot of lost tax and profit. I must admit that common sense says that if such draconian action is planned then there would be a buying bonanza of equipment and juice. But also a lot of people trying to figure out an alternative. And lets not forget there would be a burgeoning black market. And a new section of society criminalised for being caught with a Kayfun and 30ml of 24mg juice. In fact 30ml might even be considered dealing, so our prisons would be full to bursting, which they already are, so they would need more. Of course Drug & Alcohol services would need more cash to deal with the new clients referred for nicotine addiction. And they would have to open up all the closed magistrates courts to deal with the influx.
So all in all a good day for our beloved leaders. They will have made criminals of thousands, if not millions of people, they will have created a new black market requiring policing, and increased the cost of health care. And haven't stopped a single person smoking. Well done guys.

Yes, Holland's action is scary but I am hopeful that it won't happen in England. The E Cigarette industry is creating a vast amount of jobs and therefore a vast amount of tax for the government. We started in 2011 and now employ 6 people or more. That is surely worth more than restricting them would be.

I can agree with that to some extent but I also think that there is a group of people rubbing there hands together working out the possible revenue boost from taxation of ecig products. With vaping becoming more popular and as more and better studies come out that may prove that vaping is indeed effective and safe, I can't see government putting in the strict and scary bans. Unfortunately I also can't see the taxman staying away for too long in the coming years.

As more scientific evidence arrives in favour of vaping, the governments around the world will have more trouble outright banning the products. Common sense must prevail!
