Can anybody point me in the direction of an internal mount that allows the use of the onboard buttons.
Cheers.

The one I used for my Hammond box mod build did @scooby. Build link, Since then the bezel has gone from Beta to 2.1, it looks like it's still designed for the original evolv dna40 with attached OLED rather than the larger screen detachable version. This is the bezel. You need a large area to cutout for the bezel, hence the Hammond box, which it fits nicely but ends up with a huuuge box mod. May be that there's a box (plastic if possible, working with metal can be hard work) that is less wide whilst being as tall and deep as the Hammond 1590b to handle it. Anyhow good luck with the build, and take your time

Dont know if this is any help @scooby linkThe only one I can find @windows is this I'd prefer round adjustment buttons and I really only want the board mount.. They don't seem to give any idea of dimensions with this 3D stuff, that makes it difficult. I may order one and see if I can chop it to suit what I want.

What dimensions are you after @scooby as there are some lower down the page. What box are you fitting it into.

Just did some measurements on my box @scooby, and it looks like the bezel I used (version Beta, so check the new one if you go with it) would fit just fine. Wish I'd gone for an A not B too now, that slimmer form factor looks great. Check it for battery enclosure width, the bezel hardly pokes into the case at all.
Edit : also width of the 510 you go with, 27mm end to end on the 1590a is going to be a bit close with a 22mm FDV, though with care it'll sit nicely.
Doubleedit : Oh you want an internally mounted one, makes sense. Would need extra long moulded buttons to connect to the DNA40, and the mounting would be a real exercise in millimetre counting so the mounted board protrudes out enough to enable button pressing, whilst keeping the face of the bezel flush with the exterior, and the bezel would need to be held in place internally so epoxy time or similar. Interesting idea, the guys at Shapeways are more than competent at making a bezel to your specs if you can spec it out (and there are tools to do so, if you want to get your head into CAD).

You could sculpt one with Sugru if you can't find one.

I want the narrowest mount possible, the board is 16.5mm so certainly no more than 19.5mm wide. Was looking at the 1590a but it's seems a bit bulky, whilst the 1550a is dinky I doubted I'd be able to get everything in there without going the external route like davetherayon I've been searching and searching and have come up with two solutions. This one 1550 and 1590 1550 looks neat but I'm not keen on the plastic really. Now this is much more what I envisaged, and the mount is so simple and I feel the least of my worries. Looks like I may have to see about making a custom 510 connector if I'm going forward with this.

That's a good plan there @scooby. You could go one step further, and get a sheet of modelers plastic ( VapingBad will recall where from I hope) and cut the shivs and retainers out yourself. Minimalising the plastic looks like a great idea, as long as it's all held in place who needs a gigantic holder? Buttons might be an issue though. Thicker plastic cut to shape? This is way beyond my comfort zone

You could definitely use Sugru to do the last one you linked to @scooby IMO. I used here to hold the board, screen, cover the ends of the switch wires on the board, shroud the 510 and hold the magnets.

Yes davetherayon beyond my comfort zone as well, no bad thing to stretch yourself. So I've ordered a couple of 1550a enclosures and will be asking around the pub if anyone has a milling machine and lathe I've scrutinised you build threads VapingBad and davetherayon plus many others, they've been invaluable for giving me ideas and inspiration, I've used Sugru to good effect in the kit (life and other things have slowed progress on that, but will get going again this w/e) I'm building having seen it in the 'Tiny' build. I expect it won't be the last time I use it either.

You can't go wrong following VapingBad's tips, mine are anchored in experience, mistakes included I don't keep track of the latest in modolgy (there! I made a word) and have only made 4 mods to date, 2 of which are my 24/7 ones, both dna40 homebuilds. It's weird, but knowing you built This Thing makes you trust them more than a purchase, realising 'mmm the ohms are dropping a bit, lemme try a bit of solder/epoxy on that lead/atty/whatever' is very good

There is nothing like using a mod you put together, you know it's strong and weak points and how to fix it. Good word davetherayon Modolgy

Well I'm not even 1/2 way through my apprenticeship in Modolgy, I've yet to vape on a mod I made, so why do I feel like I already have my papers?
I'm enjoying the challenge of upgrading and 'redesigning' the kit I bought, that's certainly whetted my appetite to do some more builds.
