Got a coil in. Rock steady at 1.5 ohms yayy! If I try to take the dirty wick out, it mangles the coil. Best way to remove wick nicely? I just end up chucking a new coil in with fresh wick

Presuming a cotton wick: Take it outside on a mod and dry burn your way through the wick. Remove it from each side, dry burn again and rinse thoroughly. For silica wick: With fine tweezers try to ease out a few strands at a time, until it's loose enough to just pull it out. That's the way I'd do it

What material are you wicking with? With cotton wool I twist it to condense it and then it pulls out fine.

I had the same problem last night with a new Jonco coil - wick wouldn't come out, nor could I force it through with a needle, was about to fire off an email to them when I had an eureka moment and opened the window then dry burned the coil until the wick burned out. Sorted,

For CW I just snip one side of the wick close to the coil with scissors then pull it out from the other side with tweezers.

I cut it as close to the coil as possible on one side, then gently pull it from the other side.

Depends how gunked up the coil is, as the nasty stuff builds up and around the coil, I find it best to use a needle and pick away at the gunky stuff until it falls off then push or pull the wick out with the needle then burn clean the coil and rewick, job done .

Another way of doing it is - have the wick facing side to side , grab both sides , with a hand each , twist one towards you and one away from you thus twisting the wick tight , then , keeping the tension , gently pull from one side and the wick comes out without damaging the coil.Dry burn , clean , rinse , dry burn and then re-wick , good to go.
Usually I do this , just not as tight , when i wick my atty's , then when the wick is cut to length , it can be gently straightened and put into place , as it keeps the wick nice and snug in the coil.
