Denmark has just started a hearing on a new law-proposal (+), implementing the TPD in about as draconian a way as possible, hearing runs until the 20th of March, and then there will be 3 rounds of negotiations amongst politicians, and is supposed to be implemented in November.

So far it seems as if there is general goodwill towards the proposal, probably because of the 18 year rule alone.

The general misconception is that it is a good law, because it will make nicotine containing products legal in Denmark as tobacco-products, as opposed to the current situation where nicotine containing liquids are illegal (but sold anyways).

I was hopeful some aspects of the TPD might be achievable for at least some non-tobacco-company vendors, but a 4,000 euro price tag per item spells certain disaster.

Holy crap.

Rules that are required for all hardware (or parts to hardware) that can be used to vaporize liquid that might contain nicotine:

No tanks >2ml
Completely leak free
Filling mechanism that ensures that leaks cannot occur.
Childsafe tanks/e-cigs.

Plus all products juice and hardware must be registered before legal to sell, each registration must be made 6 months prior to selling and costs around £3,000 for the initial year and a further £1,000 every year after.
So every single flavour of juice will have to be registered, every nicotine strength of any juice will have to be registered and any variant of PG/VG will have to be registered and any changes to the product such as a different supplier of concentrate or base liquid will count as a new product and again will have to be registered as such and again won't be legal to sell for 6 months.
The same with all new hardware and updates to hardware.

Not only that existing products will not be grandfathered in to the law so all sales of any product will be illegal for the first 6 months following the law going into effect.

So a juice maker if they have just 5 flavours and only sell that juice in one ratio of VG/PG and one nicotine strength option will have to lay out £15,000 right away and won't even be able to sell any juice for 6 months.

That is totally bonkers.

11 years ago they were talking about banning staff in hospitals smoking and possibly patients the year after...

At that point I was a froot loop in a Danish Psych ward a few times. Staff were lovely and great but I don't agree with these psychopathic vaping policies though we over here could learn a thing or two about immigration from them (ooh err missus )

It will be interesting to see what the final rules will be. Assuming this is a real consultation and not just a stitch up. But we will find out in a few months.

Please also send an email to your MP,all it needs is details of how vaping has stopped you smoking, health benefits you have found,what restrictions would mean to you etc. Include your postal address on your email so they know you are a constituent.
