Hi everyone, I attempted to build coils many many months ago but gave up as I couldn't quite get it right, and the fact it was time consuming as I needed no res-res-no res. I now want to start again, building some sub ohm coils for a Magma RDA and a Sigelei 100w that's on the way. I have quite a collection of differing types/thickness silica wicks and ekowool, 0.2 kanthal A, some no res nickel and some .10x.30 flat ribbon kanthal. I also have a lot of 400 mesh and some brake cable (from back in the day when robby was experimenting with it). I also have a wire welder. Quite a collection to say I've only ever built 5 coils in 2 years. Is this stuff good any more for sub ohm coils? If not, can anyone recommend what I need (a link would be great)? Price isn't important, I just want to make some good quality coils for the Magma. I tried looking on youtube but I'm lost as to the difference in types of wire and wool. For example it seems some are using 24 kanthal, yet I have .2 or .1...errrrrr. Cheers.

I moved on (back) to drippers scs and use FT pre wound coils mainly cause I`m a lazy barstool, but for 3 or 4 pence each I cant be bothered with making my own. I am also using Muji cotton as well which is so easy to use and works very well, cut a strip off and feed it through the coil, you`ll soon find your thickness after experimenting a bit when you rebuild

Thanks robby, much appreciated. Muji cotton, that's the first thing on my shopping list then. I guess it's no more silica, ekowool or mesh any more then. Just looking at FT, I found the pre-built coils, now that's just about as easy as it's going to get, yipeeee I'm not sure how they would work in a dual coil setup though, what resistance on the single coil would I need to pair them to make a collective sub ohm setup on the Magma?

If you dual coil the final resistance will be half of what one of your single coils resistance is. For example if you pair two 1.5ohm coils up the resistance on your build will be 0.75ohm. Both coils must be of identical resistance don't go putting in one of 1.5ohm and another that's 1.0ohm or anything.

I use 2 FT 1.5s in my Magma and I love it, like Get Off My Cloud says it ends up .75

Thanks again for your help guys. I've ordered a good selection of coils to experiment with single/dual coils from FT and some Muji cotton from Ebay. I can't wait to get building again and it's much easier when you have help at hand!
