I like tiger coils, 0.20mm round wire twisted with 0.1mm x 0.5mm ribbon. Although they have the same resistance for a given length, the ribbon has nearly about 60% more surface area. I thought I'd twist two twisted ribbons together and take advantage of the extra area. I clockwise twisted a length of ribbon to 1mm pitch, cut it in two and twisted them together in an anticlockwise direction, the idea being to interlock them neatly. They started to interlock at one end, with slow twisting the other end started and I stopped when they eventually met in the middle. I'm pleased with the result, some nice neat pockets to hold juice. Yet to build a coil and try it.

Ha, I'm preparing yourgurnard Been busy making some more lengths. Having vaped the HoL stuff for nearly two years (although trying some Hangsen at the mo) regular coil changes are part of the deal

I tried twisting a single strand of kanthal ribbon before and was not that impressed, but it was just a quick and dirty test that I didn't persu as I feel that the surface is so uneven that it is more suited to soft wicks like cotton and my ADV is ss rope, so not conclusive or helpful, but it is very easy to do

I think you get maximum contact on mesh with ribbon so it should perform better, that seems bourn out in practice as well . For me it's the fun, challenge, satisfaction and simple pleasure of experimenting with with different builds, whether they work better or not doesn't really matter at the end of the day.
