Please correct any mis info i spout in this post... My own TC research has led me to understand that so far we have 2 'working' temp control controller options, the DNA40 based builds and the SX350J, both these work but both have 'teething' probs. The DNA40 can suffer from display problems which Evolve will support, and the SX has calibration issues set it 200F lower than the target temp and it works.. other offerings so far have not proven themselves m80Xpro for example.. now if someone can help me sus out the circuitry to read a nickel coils resistance under load i reckon an arduino could do the job just as well and while not in the smallest form small enough tho and nice big oled screens circa 5-6mm deep are cheap as chips a couple of quid for 128 x 96 That is about fair, but would add that one of my DNAs has the screen glitch and I hardly ever notice as I just keep vaping and it clears when the screen sleeps. Math the boards use:They would use use the constant for the Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (0.00641 @ 20°C link), read the ambiant temperature and calc the base resistance of the coil from this [Rbase = R / (0.00641 * (temp - 20°C))]. Then while firing track the resistance of the coil and plug the result into the formula (Rt = Rbase + ( Rbase * 0.00641 * (temp - 20°C)) to get the temp. But in general you would optimise the calculation for the chip & memory you had, if you had more fast memory a look up table would be most efficient, the thing that would be slow is updating the screen though. ETA the second formula is right, but meant to put: temp = 20°C + ((R - Rbase) / (0.00641 * Rbase)) Evolv DNA40 vs YiHi SX Mini M Class and SX MiniJ temp control methods (educated guesses):They both use the reference resistance of the coil to make a lookup table of temperature to ohms for that coil. The DNA takes the reading from a changed coil and then refines it by measuring how it cools down a minute after you vape, the YIHi makes you hold the up & down buttons down to measure it once. If you don't do this with the board and coil at the same temperature it will be out, but the Evolv will recover on it's own, but with the YiHi you have to let them both get to the same temperature and reset. The Evolve monitors the resistance and there by temperature all the time by tracking the voltage and current, it then uses this to set the voltage at any point in time. It can supply any voltage within it's limits at any time. The YiHi supply's the voltage in bursts of a fixed magnitude, between these bursts it reads the resistance and determines how long the next burst should be. If this was a car the Evolve would work like a car you are used to: your eyes and other senses are constantly monitoring your speed, your brain tells you foot how hard to press the accelerator. The YiHi doesn't have and accelerator the engine is a constant rpm so the speed is controlled with the clutch and momentum of the car, you can't slip the clutch either it is an on/off switch. You can only look the the road when you press the clutch and disengage the engine then guess how long to lift the clutch next time. At the end of the journey they may have the same average speed, but... Also having more thing on the screen uses a lot more processing cycles, measuring resistance, converting to temp and adjusting takes a fraction of the processor cycles that it takes to write a few characters to the screen.

afaik the gotcha with the dna40 is if you get a glitchy board getting the support from Evolve may be a challenge for international and private purchases not obtained through the authorised dealler/reseller route? and if it needs sending back for a refit ?? Im basing this purely on info gleaned from a utube fed vid following a review of a dna40 device (h-cigar) by ?? Todd?? the rambling but entertaining Scots bloke in his shed?? who mentioned the problem tho he had never seen/encountered it, and everyone he knew of with the problem WAS getting support, What that support entails however????? here is the h-cigar review, (positive) if u get fed the same following vids as i did???? its about a 1/3rd into a 45min long recording from Feb 2015??

get whatever mod you think will suit you best for example for me the sx mini is to heavy the hb dna40 is a ok size but still a bit big the smy one looks a good size and looks decent but if i was me i would save up a lil bit more and get the lost vape esquare dual 18650 dna40, they are being sold for 110 i think

Athough I think the higar you have is a great mod for the money, not that comfy in hand but it its a box mod, none are, the fire button position I find fine for my forefinger, the board and USB cost £50 alone, it's wired well and the 510 is fine. Or wait for this. SX Mini style with the DNA40 chip, more info, help, temp ranges on the forum with regards to the DNA...The SX does temp control well enough........open mind and no comment from me at the moment on that chip compared to the DNA......! BTW the glitch screen issue was well gone before HCIGAR was making thier mods.

Or get a snowwolf 200w which has only arrived in my hands today and I can't fault it one bit, I took the risk getting a mod with very few reviews, but all good reviews or even the 50w looks really nice if you were after a smaller mod with single 18650 :-).
