Glad you're getting sorted it kittyvape and are still In good spirit. Might be teaching how to suck eggs but anyway....you can flush a toilet with a bucket of water if you have no water supply....can the neighbours help until you're back on? Thanks letsavit Yes, no point getting down about it; these things always pass ... cue 'always look on the bright side of life', lol. Appreciate advice, and, sorry, I should have said, the water's on ... it's just if I flush the loo or use the sink, you can hear the water escaping out of the big pipe. The sound had been muffled, as there was loads of stuff stored in that cupboard. Now, everything's out ... cue springclean sooner than planned, lol. Dealing with the spiders wasn't cool, lol; itch for hours after, but I was valiant, plus the workman stood between me and them, so that was that sorted okay.

Sorry flicked through and picked up water supply and the need to wee....! It's your main drainage/waste then... Leak in a Cupboard, could be worse, accessible and should be an easy quick fix for the plumber in the morning then, least it's not backing up from underground.

Leak in a Cupboard, could be worse, accessible and should be an easy quick fix for the plumber in the morning then, least it's not backing up from underground. No worries, lol. It's leaked out over the entire hallway and into the bathroom. Was only just able to stem it from affecting the bedroom carpet too; just caught the very edge. Luckily kitchen has no carpet. He said they're going to have to remove the cement at the base of the large pipe, as it might be a fault just below ground. You're right, if it was constantly coming up from deeper underground, that would be abysmal. As long as I don't flush the toilet or run water, the problem's contained. Phew.

Oh dear kittyvape...what a kerfuffle Yet, as always, you're a cheery wee soul Thanks gill2009 Yes, quite a palaver, and best to be positive, otherwise have two problems, lol. Three workmen have just been, and it turns out it was a blocked drain outside, not a broken pipe indoors. The drainer last night seems to have not done his job, and the men were surprised as he hadn't even checked the outside drain, lol. But these three were great. Really fast repair service. I've had the humidifier on since last night too, to dry everywhere out. Just waiting to hear about if there's any reimbursement for the destroyed carpet; hopefully.

Just an update, having put in a claim to the housing association. Got a very quick and blunt response, saying they responded (ended up unblocking the drain), and are not liable. The issue I have is that when I've looked online at the history of repairs here, the same issue happened, as part of months of issues re leaks, 3 years ago here (I've been here 2 years). I'm not convinced the pipes are right, as surely water flooding back into the house, twice in 3 years, seems to indicate the pipes aren't at the right angle? Plus, it doesn't seem right that a shared drain is smack in the middle of my front garden, so it could have been a problem from a different property that caused the flooding? All that seems a good solution about the carpet is to put a couple of shower mats down, as I don't feel confident that flooding wouldn't happen again. Have a thought circling about that it doesn't seem aligned with the tenancy agreement that I can't be confident about laying carpets/risk of flooding, but they're a very blunt 'we're responsible for nothing' bunch.

CAB perhaps or welfare rights? kittyvape ? Or good ole MSE? Good advice, @johanino. Thanks Literally got the letter about an hour ago, so my brain hadn't come out of the flatline yet, lol, to remember MSE. Welfare Rights used to be wonderful round here, but it's difficult to get an appointment now. CAB branch here not great. MSE always good. Reminds me of you posting to invite me over here; that was great! EDIT: have started a thread on MSE, so we'll see what happens.

See, that's what I like about this forum; loads of good sound advice when a member gets into trouble (through no fault of her own), and humour as well in your hour(s) of need kittyvape. Hope you get a favourable outcome from all of this and a reminder to us all to check our household insurances! It's humbling to know that you came here for advice when you needed it - I hope that Chrissie realises just what a fantastic creature she created all those years ago

Yes, this forum is amazing, and uniquely so. Very different from other forums. There's real warmth and connectedness here, and I respect that loads and am so happy to be part of it.

A suggestion on MSE was to threaten re press, or go to local councillor or MP. I've just emailed the local councillor, so fingers crossed. Someone on MSE also said with now 2 incidents of the same flooding in 3 years, insurance will be difficult or impossible anyway, eek, but my main concern is that the deeper flooding issue is found and fixed asap.
