Hi... Well, I started on Skycigs, worked out they were really expensive to run, and moved to the generic Tank / Atomizers and ebay chinese batteries... All was good for a few months, but the batteries weren't giving full power through the day, and the atomizers leak or gurgle after a week or two... Not a problem seeing the tanks are 50p a pop, and the batteries 4 or 5 quid each... But I thought I'd invest in a posh variable voltage battery and atomizer... in fact this one... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221840030583?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITThe tank fell apart in my pocket after a few days, so I use it with the disposable tanks. The problem is, is that a fluid I like tastes crap using this battery (burnt sometimes), I can take the tank off and put it on my well worn cheap Chinese battery, and all is good... Setting the new battery from 3W to 20W, just makes it more harsh... The old battery has 4.1V (measured with a DMM) with no load, but I don't have a way of testing how much the voltage drops when the coil is heating... Anyone got any ideas?

I suspect that the juice is not of the best quality to begin with, and that the new battery is chucking out more power which, with a high resistance coil, is causing burnt hits. You aren't experiencing this with your original battery because the top rated volts is much lower. My suggestion would be to give us an idea of any budget you have, the preferred strength and ratio (PG/VG) of your juice, and the type of tank you would like, and we can point you in the right direction. Another suggestion - avoid eBay like the plague; there are an awful lot of 'kiss-me-quick' cowboys there who will relieve you of your hard-earned quickly while selling an inferior product. Please ask us before your next purchase, and we can point you in the direction of a good reliable vendor at the best possible price. Welcome to the forum, BTW

Further to my last post, I have now looked at your link! The atomiser/clearomiser in the eBay post is nothing more than a cheap copy (clone) of a Protank v1, which is very outdated, and the coil is probably at least 1.8ohm. If you fire this at 10w you are almost guaranteed a burnt/dry hit. The battery doesn't include any description of the capacity (measured in MaH - milliamps/hour) or whether it delivers variable wattage/voltage, although I would suspect it does from the picture. Please ask some more questions so we can help you to get the best from your equipment, or to suggest a fairly cheap upgrade which will give you a much more rewarding vape

not seen that particular battery mod before and the ebay ad isnt very enlightening either.. but at minimal settings shouldnt be burning, the 3w minimal setting should be less power than an ego battery chucks out..., so i would suggest perhaps the battery mod is lying and only indicates different power outputs but perhaps only has the one un modified output.. ?? for example my upto 40w device im vaping now with a 0.15ohm coil fitted when set to fire @ 3w applies circa 1v (check out ohms law ) and creates bugger all vapour btw.. contact the ebay seller for a return after all the atty fell apart, and if no joy start a paypal query to get your money back.. then use the cash to buy some better kit.. perhaps a fasttech subtank mini clone and istick www.fasttech.com/products/0/10013577/3160800-istick-30w-styled-2200mah-vv-vw-apv-mod-w-subtank

I will echo above try and get your money back, that seems well overpriced. Does it get less harsh when the battery charge gets lower? If so then i would suspect the issue is that the mod doesn't do stepdown and so will only be able to fire so low based upon the coil resistance. Example on a 1.8ohm resistance coil it will only fire down to 10w on a full charge regardless of what the screen says. Even if you set it to 3w it will still be firing at 10w. As the battery charge goes down it will be able to deliver a lower voltage.

I agree with Get Off My CloudMany (some/most?) big variable power batteries will overpower a small tank unless they genuinely reduce the battery output power. 'Old tech' clearomisers (the plastic/glass) tanks are generally not able to take much power either. I suspect it would be fine with a Mini Nautilus or Subtank. I'd start with a mini Nautilus myself. They seem expensive, but the heads are less than £2 a go and can last over a week. (quite cheap, not total bargain compared to 50p disposables, admittedly).

Welcome to the forum, BTW Totally agree with eBay-cowboy statement. I've had a few misses with them (not Steamer related), followed by dragged out fights over my money. There is supposed to be some sort of control about fake/copied/malfunctioning products but I think they can't be a***d.

Hi dsmczcom and welcome to AAEC heres a quicky as a bit rushed at work at the moment. like you i started on the sky cig (now Blu) about 3 years ago and also needed the patches to keep me off the fags as cig a likes are crap really. 3 years later in february this year i bought the new blu pro kit and gave up overnight but after a couple of weeks got a little bored with the limited flaves. then the forums woke me up to a whole new world of tanks and mods and i havnt looked back since. 6 months yesterday and still not touched a cig. i started and still use my istick30 with a mini nautilus tank for mout to lung hits and use a subtank mini for sub ohm lung hits only. i would agree with all the above and get ready to ditch the ebay crap clone. for about £50 you can get a istick 30/40 or 50 (only £3 between them all) and a mini nautilus for £15.75 and thhese will bring a whole new meaning to tastes and flavors. istick www.kingzofvapour.com/collections/variable-voltage-modsmini naut www.kingzofvapour.com/collections/tanks-and-clearomisers/products/aspire-nautilus-mini

Well, I took someone above's advice, and bought a Nautilus Mini...
Filled it up and put it on the battery this evening...
First 5 minutes, OK, taste was better...
The went to take a hit an hour later, and it was blocked, then mouth full of fluid...
Tried to blow the fluid through, and it just kept coming and coming out of the airflow hole...
Am I doing something wrong?

It sounds to me like you need to up your watts dsmczcom. The atty is flooding with juice, and not being vapourised as you draw on it, you are probably creating too much vacuum in the tank by drawing too hard, and you will suck it up like a straw. What mod (battery) are you using?

Ive recently picked up a nautilus mini preowned for the good lady. Not much bigger than a regular ego and ce4. Matched with a 20 or 30 istick its a cracking vape combination in a small package.
