Back from hols - up to date info/advice on vaping

Hi all,
I've just got back from a fantastic week in Rhodes, and here's the information and experiences I have gained, shared for other forum members in case it helps.

Gatwick Airport - no vaping or smoking inside the terminal buildings, or even outside unless in the dedicated areas, which are not nearby or pleasant with loads of smokers clogging up the atmosphere.
ALL batteries must be carried in hand luggage, but accepted without question, along with mods and juice for the journey.
All my other juice I bottled, squeezed the air out and used little ziplok bags inside a larger ziplok for safety. This was foolproof and I had no leakages in either journey.
Tanks DO leak due to the pressure differences in flight, even with just a little juice in, but again being double-bagged this was a minor inconvenience.

You might get away with a little stealth vaping in UK airports, but you will need to be discreet.

In Rhodes airport there were a couple of people vaping quite openly, albeit discreetly, and no-one objected.

Juice does become less viscous in hot temperatures (32-35 deg C) and can leak a bit more easily, but a handful of tissue in a pocket wipes this away. Batteries seem to last longer for some reason too.

I took my Sigelei 75 with an MVP3 as backup. I charged the Sig via USB in the evenings and this meant I only used 3 batteries of the 5 I took, so worked well.


Interestingly, I found the outward journey of 10 hours with no opportunity to vape really stressless; Maybe my nicotine dependency is really low now, but not vaping from 9.30am to 7pm local time in Rhodes (2 hours ahead) passed with almost no thought of vaping or craving.

I saw very few Greeks vaping, and no evidence of accessories or juice available in shops, although there were a few vapers in the hotel around the pool. They were all using powerbanks for power and a lead from that to their tanks (Protanks mostly) - I suppose this was the most convenient method when abroad and portability was excellent.

I vaped openly around the pool and the pool bar, and had no funny looks or interest shown in my gear, but I don't know if this was from ignorance or acceptance.

All in all a great holiday, although it is nice to be home again, with my own bed.

Bloody nuiscance Gatwick not allowing vaping, I know Heathrow allows it, i'm off to the states saturday, out through Heathrow back through Gatwick, I know BA definatly says on website e-ciggies may be carried aboard plane but not used, so for an 11 hour flight guess i'll be out on the wing with the smokers when I fancy a vape lol.

Hmm, that's interesting, I've been to Gatwick 4 times so far this year to drop off and collect daughter and have vaped openly every time even stood next to security guards etc and never been questioned

I had a little stealth vape in the toilets airside at Gatwick before my flight, used high PG juice and had no trouble, but I agree Gatwick is a PITA

Just to add to this for people flying, I fly all the time, London Airports, never had problem vaping, i'm sure security wise now, you got long flight and need some nic, they not bothered much about that, just dont cloud chase, they got more to think about than us silly vapors, and know its legal anyway, just dont have bomb strapped to you istick for f**k sake or your in trouble. LOL. And just be sensible, dont blow clouds or even any vape because it winds up smokers, just sit be quiet and vape double usual nic, thats what i do.

Also just to add to this, please treat all air staff as fantastic, if your on budget airline they will require payment for anything you order, if your BA free drinks then it changes, you shout and scream I want the best champagne (even if the name means nothing), you then demand to see the captain because service not good, when they ask you not to vape you point out its not illegal, tell me any country it is illegal to vape in you ask, then you ask about the restraints, and why i'm visiting a country i did not book to fly to.

ive dusted off my Blu cig a like box as off to Vegas on Wednesday from Heathrow.
emptying tanks before i leave so will need a puff here and there.
last week i was having a clear out and i found a full box of patches which i dumped as i thought i wont need them again DOH! forgot about the 10 hour flight ahead lol.

I got told of for vaping on the runway at Bristol coming back from toots  place, but not on the runway in Tenerife. Odd and confusing rules.

Thanks Nick @kopiert! My mate who I was on holiday with (as well as my wife and his family!) left our hotel at 7am to walk the 40 mins up the hill to the Acropolis and Stadium near Rhodes Town otherwise it would have been too hot. He took a bath towel for some fun, and we had a great laugh posing; luckily for us there was no-one else around at the time, otherwise we would have felt like right prats!
