No, they are not accurate enough to read low IR, the tester I linked to uses a 4 wire (1 pair for current and the other for voltage) and pulsed DC measurement, straight 2 wire DC or AC measurement is not good enough. The tester I linked to does capacity and you can choose up to 2 V plus the cut off voltage. Sorry I missed that post, there aren't any links though?

Not for accurate internal resistance on high drain single cells, you need a 4 wire set up, ideally with pulsed DC test signal. For batteries like 25R you are looking at measuring 14-18 milliohm, VTC4 10-16 milliohm and those DC testers can't measure that low, same for the chargers the do IR.

Geez the batteries around here seem a bit pricey! I'd recommend the samsung 25R's and for a good price eu.nkon.nl/samsung-18650-inr18650-25r.htmlThese are trusted and used by myself and plenty of other cloud chasers running anything from 0.06 and up on mech mods. My last order was for 10 which came in at less than £40 all in. Enjoy For a 20 amp battery you shouldn't be building lower than .21 ohms so just be careful. Yeh I still highly recommend them though, they're better than the vtc's and there's a definite lack of info on the vtc5's these days especially whether sony are actually making them or not and so on.

While what you say is correct enjay and you do know you arse from your elbow with everything mech noobs can get a false sense of security, over tens time the numbers of gusts visit here than members so gm111 was right to make the point IMO. I always think of the if the mod get jammed on in a bag, pocket or down the back of the sofa as the safety test so pulse don't count. I agree 25R are much better value than the VTCs.

Received above mentioned batteries from evolution vaping yesterday, obviously I haven't had any opportunity to test them as yet, have been trawling through various sites, showing how to recognise the difference between a fake and genuine, I know without proper equipment this is almost impossible, but going by what I have read, I would have to say they look genuine, If anyone wants me to send them one for testing I would be up for sending you one, as I said in previous post I was assured that these were genuine and have been tested,

Any update on the VTC5 batteries? I also bought some from Evolution Vaping and checked with Norb from ECOLUX who assured me the batch he tested from them were genuine. He has also asked me to compare my ones with the images on the ECOLUX eBay listing.

As Glen said they look authentic and feel the same weight as ecolux's although I haven't weighed or used them as I've got my dna200s with lipos.. Also haven't got round too buying the internal resistance tester that VapingBad reccomended so I can't say for sure..

Evolution vaping are sound, wouldn't hesitate to trust him. Other thing is why not get the samsung 25R's? You can get them a lot cheaper eu.nkon.nl/rechargeable/18650-size/samsung-18650-inr18650-25r.htmlThey also do VTC5'[s but they're out of stock. Anther thing is I think vtc5's are going to be called something else like vtc5s, something like that. Sony stopped making them at one point but apparently they're making them again now but changing the name slightly for whatever reason. Not making them in Japan any more either, that's where the original confusion came in about them stopping production.

Apparantly they have built a massive battery plant in the States and it is in production, they are playing catch up at the moment. I saw this on a youtube vid last week but cant for the life of me find it again.

This is another confirmation that they are making batteries.
Bare with it, it`s a vaping channel. Not the same source that I couldn`t remember, but the same info.
The relevant part starts at about 1 hour and 5 minutes.

I thought that was a new video for a min, the factory they mention being built is in the Philippines, IIRC it is Tesla that are building the largest Li battery plant in the world in the US so maybe the rumour mill got confused with that. This video is 15 months old, I posted about in Jan 2015 and it was old then, I have no reason not to believe it, just not read anything new since then, but I've not been trying. 16 months is a not an unreasonable time for these to take to come back online, but back then we were hopping it would be faster. The section of the video (1:05 - 1:23) is definitely worth a watch particularly on how fakes are mixed in with real batteries and how e-cig wholesalers are often fooled. There are various theories, a respected US vendor was told by a Sony rep that they were produced in the Fukushima plant which is obviously no longer operable and they are moving production to a new plant and will continue to make them as they were a very good seller, but they have never been produced for retail sale. Some people have emailed Sony and got generic replies from customer service saying they were never meant for vaping etc. 5 months ago on redit Sony Is Not Discontinuing the VTC Line of Batteries this is the video linked from that
