I've been making my own juices for a few months now with little success. All of my juice taste bland to me. I think part of the problem is I'm trying to make juice as rich in flavour as Element juice, which is by far my favourite brand.
I use EM and sucralose in my mixes and I can taste the flavour, but I just can't seem to make anything with the oomph that I crave!
Here's an Element pink lemonade clone that I found as an example -
7% Lemon TFA 4% raspberry CAP 5% Sweet tangerine CAP 0.5% champagne TFA 1% Sweetener
After 2 weeks of steeping my only word is meh. Get some flavour but, as with all of my other juice, it just largely tastes dry and bland and not juicy like Element's does.
Any tips?
Cheers

That recipe is almost a shake-n-vape catface26Would just need a damn good shake and a few hours breathing as it has no creams or custards in. If it's just fruits in a mix......the flavour will lessen over time. A drop or two of cider vinegar......or Jif lemon......or saline would help with that one.

I do always try my juices on my dripper as soon as I've made them. It tasted a bit more lemony than it does now but was nothing special and a bit harsh on the exhale.

There are very few mixes that work for me at less than an overall 20-25% of flavour catface26 - even subohming or dripping. ( Other than some of the Aniseed/Winternip etc types. ) I like my mixes big, bold and punchy for them to be enjoyable, to my tastes. After best part of 5 years mixing now, I can look at percentages of various concentrates in recipes and be pretty much certain that they'll be lacking/or ok in taste - again for me. So my suggestion is, to also gently tweak your flavour concentrations to find what works for you . . . . and perhaps add a little Vape Wizard or Smooth.

Yeah I was thinking of trying out some at 25%. Just always felt like too much as most recipes range from 10-20.

Yeah I was thinking of trying out some at 25%. Just always felt like too much as most recipes range from 10-20. It depends so much upon the concentrates, 25% of something like Clear Storm would I'd think blow most peoples lungs out, 25% of a Custard blend would likely be just nice and tasty. Plus of course what suits the person who created the recipe, might be way off for you. I go 30% (+) on some . . . . if you buy any of Chefs ready blends, then they'll recommend 20-30% - the higher concentration if you're VG heavy mixes. Experimentation, getting to know your flavours and what suits you is the only way to find out . . . . making small samples, gradually increasing ratio's is the only way I know of.

Yeah lots to learn and lots of experimenting. I am considering just sacking it off tbh and just buying juice. It's just a constant disappointment.

Look at what you've done so far as part of the learning process . . . . recipes in my humble opinion are a guide or starting point to creating an enjoyable eliquid. If they work for you first time, then all well and good . . . . if they don't, then consider which elements of the mix could be improved for you - go from there. Have you looked into buying any of the excellent one shots there are available now, rather than using a recipe? Get a couple of those successfully mixed to your tastes then that could well give you the confidence ( and inspiration! ) to be more adventurous.

Don't give up catface26, I haven't been mixing nearly as long as some on here but am totally hooked and obsessed now. By avidly following peoples tips on here and over on faceache I am now starting to really appreciate the satisfaction of a good home brewed liquid. I unfortunately started with some poor bases and therefore my first attempts were bland, peppery, watery, chemically and a bit dire but by reading and reading reading some more I soon picked up what to buy and not to buy and now I have to say that I'm really impressed how easy it is to make a good liquid. I'm another that likes my flavours to hit me in the face so I do go in heavy but in only 10ml testers so it is then easy to tweak them again until they are right and by reading about the different brands you can get some real positive ideas about what is strong or weaker. Got to admit though that nothing beats the lick test of a concentrate although please don't try this with menthols, bite extra or koolada unless you want to retrieve your tongue from the plug hole I have thrown a lot down the sink, mostly my early mixes and it has been mainly fruits that I have steeped too long and the flavour has just disappeared from them so now if I'm doing anything with just fruits, I mix, shake well and most importantly for me is to air them overnight to get rid of any chemical or perfumey taste then steep for just a little while and get on with vaping them. If they aren't strong enough then I just drop a few more drips in the bottle and shake and vape again. I've just this minute done this with a GooseRaspberry mix and it is now perfect to me One thing I did notice is that you use EM, I have a bottle and was using it a lot but noticed that it seemed to kill my flavour off, might be an idea to leave it out. And if you mix straight fruits and it isn't quite right then try a few drops of sweetener first or JIF lemon to see if it lifts it back up? Honestly once you make one good liquid you will be so pleased with yourself and get the itch to try more and more. *sits back and guiltily looks at rather a few litres of home brew steeping away in little 10ml bottles*
