I've flown several times since starting vaping. I've always carried my liquid in the usual resealable freezer bag. I've been checked several times with the batteries in my hand luggage, mainly by interested parties who want to see how ecigs work rather than causing a problem with them. I vape very carefully during the flight and if necessary go into the loo for a quick few drags as airlines aren't keen, mainly because they want you to buy their useless disposables. I had a whole queue of people held up in Egypt just because the security guys were fascinated by the whole idea of vaping and wanted me to give them a full demo on every flavour and atty that I had with me!

i found this in a link from a google search regarding batteries. can anyone explain this as an idiot guide.
Spare lithium or lithium ion cells or batteries must be individually protected so as to prevent short circuits (by placement in original retail packaging or by otherwise insulating terminals, e.g. by taping over exposed terminals or placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective pouch) and carried in carry-on baggage only. Each spare battery must not exceed the following: - for lithium metal or lithium alloy batteries, a lithium content of not more than 2 grams; or - for lithium ion batteries, a watt-hour rating of not more than 100 Wh.

The above is for bare batteries, so if you're taking a Lavatube for instance the batteries will need to be put in a battery holder. I just had my Ego batteries in a pouch in my hand luggage.

My battery boxes hold 2 18650s, would these regulations stop me from having 2 batteries in a box? Confused ???
What about disposable e-cigs? are those allowed in hold luggage?

All I can tell you is that I turned up to the airport with a couple of Riva/Ego batteries in my hold luggage. The check in assistant asked me if I had any rechargables in my checked in luggage to which I replied I did. She just said to put them in my hand luggage, which I did. I did not take my Lavatube or any other mod type batteries. I then went through security with three batteries and my SDK in my hand luggage with no problem.

I don't think they'd stop you, a laptop battery is a LOADS of 18650 type batteries connected together, as are some video camera batteries and some larger type digital camera batteries. Just put them in your hand luggage in a battery box I'm 99.9% sure you'll be okay.

thanks des, ive taken them through before albeit a screwdriver with small batteries. there was no problem but my concern was 18650 batteries. i would be taking 2 LTs, mini and normal and probably the touchwood 18650. so that would be 2x 18650 protected (long) 4x 18650 IMR and 6X IMR 18350 for the mini. they will be bagged and taped (insulation on the battery ends). i was more worrying that the 18650 batteries could be over the rating they are fussing about. i also have read several times that they are now illegal in turkey, but thats another matter.
