As far as batteries go you don't need peotected batteries in a vamo as it has its own protection. Protected batteries are used in mechanical mods which have no inbuilt protection from shorts etc. I use the Panasonic batteries in my mods amd they are fantastic. click meProtank... Gurgling and spitting is from overfilling generally.. always filled mine 3/4 full to prevent this.. you'll need to clean any juice out of the airtube. You say you've changed the heads.. did you remove anything? Also make sure the airtube of the head is tight!! Does the base have two grooves in it? They are there to allow you to screw it right down but maintain airflow.. Hi DanThanks for the battery link, that's great. I only really fill the Protank half full unless I'm going out for ages, so I don't think it's that, I've cleaned the air tube (why don't they make long handled, slimline cotton buds?? LOL) and that has helped a lot. I don't think I removed anything that I didn't then replace The base has two grooves, I am not sure what I did but I clearly did something wrong, however it seems better now so thank you for all your help Sal

Hi Sal, for batteries I have been getting mine from ukecigcbin. I have the Efest 18650 and 18350 (red ones) both button tops, I also bought a Panasonic 18650 last time which I am very happy with. I run a protank with my Vamo and haven't had any problems. The protank has air channels in the base so airflow shouldn't be. A prob if it's screwed all the way down, if you have unscrewed it slightly maybe it's not making a proper connection to the mod so the coil isn't heating up causing you to get juice coming up I would double check that the head is properly screwed into the base and you get a resistance value when you hold down the right button. Not sure if that helps but let us know how you get on Thank you gapy360 Thank you for the link to batteries, I shall have a look I've reassembled it all again and although nothing 'seemed' amiss it does seem to be vaping better now so maybe something wasn't quite right, I am such a newbie that it's easy to make schoolgirl errors I guess The resistance says 2.6, I think that's about right isn't it? Thanks again

Hello again! After my first thread asking for advice on upgrading from CE4/Ego, I decided on a Vamo and this is what I bought link Thanks chykensa I'm loving it so far even though it is way bigger than I thought it would be lol! I just have a couple of queries: I want to buy some spare batteries and I'm just browsing Fasttech, again, and I'm not sure what to buy, there seem to be about 3 million to choose from I have 18650 ones that came with the kit, they are meant to be Sony but not sure they are! Never mind, they work, but I want to get some good spares. What does 'protected' mean? Any help would be great! Also, I've tried using it with a Protank, mini protank and a DCT thingy I bought from FT link The mini protank and the DCT both work ok (except I can't get the drip tip to stay on the DCT but that's another story I guess!). With the Protank, I get a lot of gurgling and have had a mouthful of juice a few times, yuk. I've replaced the heads a couple of times and tried different voltages but it still does it. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong. I've found if I screw the Protank on so that it's flush I can't vape it at all, so I have loosened it so there is a couple of mm gap. I'm rambling a bit now so i will shut up after apologising for a rather long thread! Thanks in advance for any advice Sal xx

@freefrom smoking thank you again, that's a big help, I have come across Todd and Grimmgreen so will check the others out too @djs, thank you for that, do some people use dripping atomisers all the time instead of tanks?

@freefromsmoking that is so helpful, thank you very much. I think i will go and have a look on YouTube before I make a final decision! I am not completely incompetent, I just like to go in armed with as much advice and information as i can find then I'll know what I'm up against! Lol. That is what is fantastic about this forum, people are so willing to help in any way possible

+1 Blakey the igo-l is a brilliant piece of kit for the money but if you wan't to avoid coil building, then the 306-lr is the job ( as recommended by Perpetua I believe). How hard is it to replace the coil in these @freefromsmoking? I am planning to start recoiling my protank just as soon as the kit arrives. If it is very technical I better steer away from it!!

Thank you @ blakey, how long do those last? I know it's kinda 'how long's a piece of string', but in your experience

stu1873 That looks a smart piece of kit Does it just screw directly onto the battery? I don't understand how it is different from just putting a couple of drops in the Protank - see, I said I was a bit dim Edited as just read your last replies! Thanks so much for your help welshwestie, hopefully we'll both get to find out all about this dripping business
