Hi, I bought the tec tornado a couple of weeks ago, been kindly advised that i will need more atomisers fairly soon & batteries, anything else? How long do atomisers & batteries last? Just wondering how many to get in stock. Im a 30-40 a day smoker & am still smoking while im still trying to get use to this. So far ive found its really catching the back of my throat, would this be to do with the strength of the juice? 36mg, found the 18gm isnt too bad once ive had a few puffs & a cough lol Am going to order some different flavours soon & have fun trying to find the best one for me Also, while i see loads of posts saying how great these products are & how long theyve managed to give up smoking (well done all ), anyone actually managed to get off vapouring? Any tips & advice will be very much appreciated, have read quite a few threads on here & have really been helpful already.

Hi Blitz, congratulations on taking that first step. Atomisers, well, it's a bit like how long is a piece of string - they can last from 5 minutes to a couple of months but on average most moderate-heavy vapers tend to get through about 1-2 atomisers a month. You should find the Tornado batteries last a bit longer than this, although I haven't seen actual figures but I've heard people report them still going strong after 6 months of fairly heavy use. I'd say if it's catching the back of your throat too much, then 36mg is too high for you and you can cut it down with some PG or VG to reduce the strength to suit you. - Probably VG would be best in your case to help reduce the throat hit further. Finding the right flavours takes everyone a bit of experimentation and you can usually trade or sell any you really don't like in the classifieds section of any of the forums including this one. As to stopping vaping, why? I certainly have no intention of giving it up

I wonder if Blitz (welcome Blitz ) needs that advice about lining up the atty? I'll try to explain it but 510 users do it better: Blitz, if you look inside your atty you will see that the "wire wool" is wider one way than the other. When you put your cart on, try to line it up so the the wide side of the cart lines up with the direction of the wire wool. I can't do it, can I? I shoulda saved the instructions one of our male members gave yesterday or the day before. Also, keep the stuffing wettish scylla

Hi Blitz.
It's probably advisable to buy as many atties as you can aford while the TECC sale is still on. Maybe 1 packet of batteries too.

Good try scylla - here's my original version...
I recently bought a Tornado and nearly gave it up as I was getting a really bad plastic taste which burnt my throat.
If you look into the atomiser you will see that the element is wider one way than the other. When you put the cart on, line up the wider part of the cart with the wider part of the element. I have found with some carts/atomisers, if you don't align it then the plastic can touch the element, giving the bad taste.
Also make sure you keep the cart topped up - when the cart starts to get a bit dry (after the equivalent of 1 or 2 cigs) you also get a slightly burnt taste (although not as bad as the burning plastic !).
I think it depends on manufacturing tolerances - some combinations of cart and atomiser will have the problem, others maybe won't.

Hi Blitz - I have a Tornado, and the above advice could be what the problem is, so give that all a try.
Additionally, I have found that harshness when my wadding has got far to dry. It is a good idea to keep washing out/drying/fluffing up the filling. Then half fill the cart before putting the filling back - then top it up with more juice. Since I have been doing that, I rarely get the harshness. It has taken me a while to really learn about how to vape properly, avoiding any pitfalls - which were numerous when I first began. Good luck with it all.

Remember that the 510 atty (as supplied as standard with the Tornado) is a "hit" atty. If you want the nicotine content but less "throat hit" then buy some 901 atomisers and a 510 to 901 adapter...

Good point Prof - alternatively, standard SLB 510 atomisers are a similar resistance to the standard 901 atomisers, so could also be used to get a slightly cooler and less harsh vape.

Two of my Tornado batteries are now five months old and going strong which, although I don't use them exclusively, is very good. As said above, do make sure the wadding in the cartridges is kept wet and isn't being caught on the metal atomizer bridge (wick) as that can cause a very unpleasant burning taste. I've only had one cartridge end burn and don't generally bother about lining up the carts with the atties - perhaps I should. I've only lost a few regular atomizers in the 9 months (nearly) that I've been vaping although the low resistance type have proved short-lived. I blow them through regularly and try not to flood them - I keep plenty in stock and generally buy the multipacks. Fox
