Throat hit question

Just wondering if this is just me but I put a new wick and coil on the Penelope last night and filled the tank with freedom vape's grape juice. The juice is 50/50 and med nic. Let it rest for 10 mins and took a vape of it.............. wow the throat hit was very intense, nearly took my breath away! This morning it seems to have settled down and a more smoother vape.

Just wondering because its a new wick that the hit will be more full on than say the 2nd time of vaping or is it dependent on how many coils you make on the wick, last time I think it was 5, this time 4

I had the same effect with the first wick I made..........I thought I was going to wake up with a very rough throat lol.............. then it settled down and was smoother

Sounds interesting esme............... I look forward to hearing why..............Have yet to do my first wick & coil, but if it improves throat hit I'm gonna have a go...............

Esme when you make your coils do you measure out the resistance wire? If so, that's what determines the resistance of the coil, not the number of wraps. If you had 3cm of wire and you made 5 tight coils or 3 loose ones, it's still 3cm of wire.
I find that when the coil is shiny and new it has a lower resistance, and therefore more throat hit, than when it starts to gunk up a bit

The thing that determines the resistance of your coil is the thickness of the wire you use and the length of that wire.

For example: 0.16mm Nickel Chrome wire has a resistance of 53.7 ohms per metre, so if I want a 2 ohm coil I need (2/53.7) X 1000 = 37mm. With that 37mm of wire I could possibly make 3 loose wraps or 5 tight ones, but it will still be a 2.0 ohm coil.

take the guesstimation out and buy a multimeter I measure mine out 2.2 to 2.4 ohms AFTER I wind em. If too low I add another wrap of the coil if too high then I unwind the coil a bit. You can get em spot on just how you like them everytime then.

Funny thing is that certain juices taste a lot better in the Penelope but one or 2 taste really harsh....... oh well the fun in this is experimenting
