Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sliding down that beautiful rainbow sure was fun. AM happy to hug a tree now but ONLY if someone can make sure it's totally free of spiders and moths!!!
My special place to go in my head is a near deserted beach. The only person who lives there is a very wise very kind old man so-who wants to come for a picnic with me? And a swim in the warm clear bright blue sea. Or if you prefer you can go pick coconuts from those palm trees obscuring the beach from anyone who's not invited but of course everyone here is!

I'm sorry to bring drugs into it, but when I was younger i took some magic mushrooms and hugged a tree for almost 20 minutes. It felt lovely and safe and solid.
But the next tree over, someone had spraypainted the word tw*at on it, and that really threw me. How can a tree be a tw*at? what would it have to do to earn the name?

Magic mushrooms and trees. The thought of that has just Sent a shiver down my spine. I've a Very scary storey about that from many many moons ago. Shall I tell it? It would be a great example of why we shouldn't take drugs!

Ok. Apologies now for bad spelling.
A story from long ago. I was living in halifax at the time and it was dark outside. I'm in a flat, about 5 stories high. Its night time and I'd consumed said mushrooms. I'm looking out the window and despite it being october and in a town. All I can see out the window is a beautiful pine forest. A pine forest as far as the eye can see.
Then I notice that the pine trees actually have pretty christmas lights on them and over a short space of time, these christmas lights burn brighter. Beautiful.
But the lights keep burning brighter. And they become clearer. The lights shining are actually eyes! I start to think its abit odd, so I continue to watch things develop.
The eyes turn into sets of eyes glowing, then they eyes become faces, then heads. As I continue to watch these things develop. I promise you it was there. A hallucination that was crystal clear. My flat didn't exist just an empty space behind me and the view from the window, so I continued to watch.
The heads hanging from the trees, then became full bodies hanging from the trees like christmas decorations, but obviously, these bodies, although clothed, were dead.Hanging there by there necks from the trees.
It develops further and transistions again, the pine trees are actually like mounds of bodies, semi dead bodies stacked up like pyramid shape. Like a huge genocide had taken place. Just mounds and mounds of stacked up bodies. Some of them are barely alive and I see some of them starting to bekon me to join them. Remember I'm several stories up! I spin around in total fear and dracula of all people is right behind me blocking me from going anywhere and he hissed at me! A part of my brain was telling me its not real bit believe me, how I survived that night god knows!
Very, very scarey and totally, totally real. As clear a sight as if it was real.

wowza. sorry to hear. personally, i would have found that kind of thing really cool, horrible but cool. i even get a kick out of my scariest nightmares....but the dracula bit woulda freaked me out...
or maybe i wouldn't find it cool.
anyhow, since this is meant to be a smiley rainbow thread, i'm going to lighten it up with a magic mushroom story my mum told me when we were on holiday in new york. i can't be bothered paraphrasing it, so i'll just cut n paste it out of a short story i wrote afterwards:
She drank some beer then wiped the corners of her mouth with a napkin. Her face, neck and chest were blotched red. ‘Listen. On the subject of drugs. Listen.’ And she leaned in closer. ‘When we were living in Lucas Street, me and your father, he had all these scroungy friends over most nights. It was like a squat. One night, we had company as usual. I was pregnant with Veronica, quite far along. I remember one of the friends was Spike, this bald guy from London who was staying with us. We were helping him hide out from the police and the Hell’s Angels. He was quite nice actually. I don’t remember who the others were.’ She waved her hand. Clearly the others were men like my father. ‘They were all taking acid this night. As usual. And I decided – I know it’s bad – I decided to take some mushrooms.’ ‘And you were pregnant with Veronica?’ ‘I know, I know. I was stupid. I was sixteen. And there was all your father’s friends and I – I guess I wanted to – I dunno – I didn’t want to be the odd one out. And remember, this was nineteen-eighty. We didn’t know about things then.’ ‘I aint judging,’ I said. ‘It was only a few mushrooms,’ she said, ‘but they must have been strong, cuz an hour or so later I was, ya know’ – she fluttered her fingers –‘tra-la-la, everything’s fluffy and funny, tra-la-la. You know.’ I nodded. She scratched the bridge of her nose with the nail on her little finger. ‘So everything’s fine, and then suddenly I’m soaking wet.’ ‘Soaking wet?’ ‘Yes. My waters have broken.’ ‘Shit.’ ‘Yes. Shit. And I was only about seven months along, so – you can imagine. Not only am I tripping, but I’m about to come into premature labour. And there’s your father and his friends off their faces. Microdots I think.’ Mum’s head turned. The waiter in the checked shirt was suddenly standing next to our table. ‘Can I get you laydeez another drink?’ I shook my bottle. Empty. ‘Yes please. Same again.’ ‘Can I get a diet coke?’ said Mum. ‘Sure.’ He grabbed my empty bottle with a small hairy hand and walked away. ‘Where was I?’ ‘Waters broke.’ ‘Yes. So my waters have broken and I’m terrified. I tell your dad. He and his friends start panicking. They don’t know what to do. And they have all these drugs about the place so they don’t want to call an ambulance. And I’m there freaking out.’ She waved her arms about like someone drowning. ‘I’m only sixteen remember. No mother, no father, just an idiot druggy husband, and I’m about to give birth. And I’m on mushrooms.’ ‘What did Dad do?’ She smiled and shook her head, remembering. ‘He starts trying to climb out the window.’ ‘What? Why the window?’ ‘Cuz his friends won’t let him go out the door. He climbs out the window and he’s hanging out, holding onto the ledge, about to drop. This is a two story flat, remember.’ ‘So he’s trying to escape?’ ‘No. He’s trying to get help. And he’s about to drop out this window but then he changes his mind. He remembers that knees have this habit of shattering. The ******* numpty.’ Our drinks arrived. Mum took a slow swallow of her coke. ‘What happened?’ Mum looked at me in this sly way and I could tell that she was saving the best till last. ‘That friend of your dad’s, Spike, he comes over and he puts his hand in the damp patch on the carpet.’ Here Mum started acting it out. Her hand went down onto the table then flicked up to her mouth. She licked her palm. Shook her head. ‘Nah,’ she said in a London accent. ‘Nah.’ She repeated this, lightly slapping the table and licking her palm, shaking her head and saying ‘nah’ in a London man’s voice. ‘Nah,’ she said. ‘It’s piss.’ She became still, looked at me with her light blue musical eyes. I blinked slowly. ‘So basically you took some mushrooms and pissed yourself?’ Smiling, half-proud, half-embarrassed, she nodded. ‘Oh my God, that’s the best –’ but I couldn’t finish my sentence because the laughs were rolling up my chest like bubbles.

Funny story! Yeah I think you can loose control of bodily functions. On mine I couldn't detect my eyelids at all. Eyes open or shut made zero difference.

I just had to google magic mushrooms as I've never heard of them, it sounded like a kids story book. I've led a sheltered life.
