Maybe petitions are ignored by those who think they know what's best for us all but at least we don't sit back, do nothing and moan about results with which we disagree. The petition, plus our written responses to the MHRA's consultation document certainly gave pause for thought as, together with the end of period meeting, we vapers have been given a stay of execution. Traders were given the chance to point out the many misconceptions the MHRA had regarding the e-cigarette and knew that they had the backing of many thousands of satisfied customers. Who knows, if we'd simply been apathetic there would have been no further discussion; just a total and instant ban. Too many people these days allow themselves to be ridden over roughshod and don't seem to care enough to make their opinions heard. Fox Let me enlighten you babe ....... 1) This is not about "the powers that be" knowing what is best for us - it is purely about Corporate Profits and Tax Revenue ....... this has both a negative AND a positive aspect, which should be explored without the usual simplistic notion of "The Government Is Always Evil" - would you like to be the one that decides which Hospitals and Schools should be closed down because the Treasury lost Billions in Tobacco Duties ?? 2) Why do you consider this petition demonstrates "not sitting back and taking action" ?? It achieved nothing productive and may well have had a very destructive effect ...... 3) This whole idea that Government listens to the people is nothing more than fluffy marketing for "Sheeple" to swallow - decisions are made according to facts and figures, not Public Opinion ....... if you really thought this petition would have any influence then you have fallen for the oldest trick in the Political book ...... this served the Governments agenda more than it did Vaping, as it now gives people the illusion (aka photo opportunity!) that the Political System is accessible to the Public and that there really was Due Diligence being undertaken ....... when in fact there was no such thing at all ...... 4) While everybody was being distracted by pointless and ineffectual nonsense like this - there were a great many things which were not being done which could have had a major impact ....... like raising funds for a legal battle and petitioning the big Vendors to hire frikkin lawyers !! 5) You are unbelievably naive to think this petition caused the delay - it was probably already part of the MHRA's plan from the outset and most certainly was due to the upcoming FDA ruling in America at about the same time - Government Agencies love to errrr "liaise" with each other ....... 6) You are veering on complete foolishness to think the MHRA doesn't know more about E-cigs than anybody else !! They have no "misconceptions" about them at all and know full well that they cause no harm - the MHRA is merely doing the bidding of the "establishment" and are the first (of many!) obstacles Vaping will need to surmount ...... 7) Trust me, nobody heard your opinions on this babe - that petition was immediately "filed" in the bin ....... all while Vapers were patting each other on the back for putting up such a good fight ....... Ya know babe, you gals have a great platform here to offer guidance and direction - not just on what new E-cig to buy but on the far more important issue of how to protect Vaping in the UK ....... I know you may not want this responsibility, but running this place gives you have a huge influence ....... perhaps you should take advantage of this position by trying to understand the real issues at hand by scratching underneath the surface ....... instead of just following the "status quo" and repeating the prescribed and incorrect mantra of the more vocal majority ....... Just my 2p Foxy Lady

To me, the point about petitions is not that the government will take notice (I signed one which had 2 million sigs and had no real impact) but that they act as consciousness raising that will lead people to take other, more effective, action I agree dude ...... but whose consciousness was actually being raised here – Vapers already knew what was going down !! Why not just do the “more effective action” in the first place ?? ??? And since this petition has taken place ...... what “more effective action” has it led to ?? None that I can see bro ...... :-[
