I think Marjorie's post at #15 says it all, really.
Ban ecigs 'cos they're bad for you; carry on selling cigarettes 'cos we get lots of lovely tax revenue.
Want to stop smoking? Don't buy an ecig 'cos it's so bad that we've banned it; instead, use these nicotine patches, which are much better for you, and really won't work so you'll end up going back to those lovely revenue-earning cigarettes......

And if we really want to stop smoking by using drugs and NRT, well, that's all available free on the NHS so we can cost the government even more than we do now..

You're all so right. So - nicotine is fine EXCEPT when vaped - are these people idiots! The e cig can be used without nicotine so how can it be deemed illegal ??? Perhaps glycerine is gonna be banned the following month ???

That seems to be the consensus Lollipop. When the powers that be started their campaign against the e-cig, it was the PG they objected to. One venerable gent who hadn't done his homework intimated it was antifreeze, toxic to humans etc., quite wrong and a different product. PG is used in all manner of everyday items and also in the inhalers used by asthmatics as an airway-opener. Manufacturers, such as Intellicig, announced their ranges using VG and immediately all negative attention transferred to liquid nicotine as being lethal! Apparently we're all far too stupid to use the product safely and, therefore, nicotine must be in a 'sealed' form that is tamper-proof. Pleasant tasting flavours mustn't be made available either just in case lottery-winning ankle biters decide they are attracted to vaping rather than breaking the law by smoking tobacco. Eventually the tobacco and pharmaceutical industry will corner the market in 'e-cigs' and will only produce nicotine in cartridge form at inflated prices - heaven forefend adults will get their clumsy hands on liquid; we obviously don't have the skill to fill cartridges ourselves - we need to be protected as we know not what we do! [end of rant] Fox >

Couldn't agree more with you Fox. I wish that more people realised just how powerful the drug & tobacco companies are. If the drug companies in particular want to push a product they have the funds to do so & if they want to see a product banned - likewise. Their power & wealth is fornominal (SP? Scylla will especially laugh at this one ) And if big pharm want to stub out (pun intended) a competitor - they have the resources to do so.

fornominal (SP? Scylla will especially laugh at this one ) It's not so much the spelling of phenomenal that made me giggle {{{Chrissie}}} but the fact that you predicted it But I was dismayed today to notice that I persist in spelling squeezy "squeazy", so I'm a kettle-black-calliing pot!!! scylla Edit - and even then I did a middle-finger-of-wrong-hand typo so put an "i" in "phenomenal" where an "e" should go, shoulda done a Preview
