...and had a cigarette. I had to go out lunchtime and for some inexplicable reason I had this overwhelming desire to have a smoke, I still had the old packet of fags left in my car which I haven't touched for three weeks and lit one up. I felt really bad about it and still do tonight, I'm vaping away now and have no desire at all for another cigarette but I just don't know why this incredibly strong feeling came over me after three weeks without them. I really don't want to start smoking again and I'm sure I won't but it just kind of shocked me at how strong this was and how incredibly quick it came on. Has this happened to anyone else? Graham

Graham Curiosity, sometimes you need reminding that smoking is crap. It never bothered me, I used to just light one up when the urge took me and after a couple of puffs I'd throw it away again, Haven't done that in many months though

I think you could be right because I didn't smoke it all, probably about half and then through it out the window, mainly because as you said, it tasted crap. I immediately got my Riva out and took a couple of big drags and I was back to normal again and loving every second of it.
Hopefully it was just curiosity.

It's no biggie Graham . . . don't angst over it. Think of all those ciggies you've NOT smoked, far more important and satisfying.

I've still got half a packet of fags in a drawer, and on occasions I've taken it out, but, in my mind's eye all I've seen are the chemicals that are in it, not the tobacco. I don't know why vaping has been so successful for me, it wasn't my intention to give up completely but that's how it's worked out so far. Plus now I'm seeing the financial savings it's even more engrained. Not attracted by the 'shineys' at the moment, although I might drop a few Provari hints to the family just before Crimbo when they ask 'what do you want?' As others have said, if you have the odd one, so what! Just think of the ones you haven't had.

Hi Graham, I hope that you're not too worried, don't panic! it's really not the end of the world tho and you surely cannot be alone in this experience?. Nowadays I find myself in this situation less and less (I am amazed to say) but am cool with having a pack of tobacco in the drawer. Sometimes I even roll one up, it's like once in a blue moon, but it's still ok.

If it's any consolation m8 I still get the urge quite often to have a cig , I just blast away on super strong home made menthol till I go green at the gills .......... it's a pants feeling but it still happens even after so long of being cig free

It took me 2 years before I could finally let go of my last pack of cigs . . . whilst I had no desire to smoke them, I had to know that they were there, in case of an emergency/crisis/curiosity situation.
Changing what is very often a life times habit, doesn't happen overnight for many of us . . . .

I don't feel I've given anything up, they're there if I want them... I just DON'T want them!

Absolutely Perps! i actually don't know how anyone else here feels, but personally i am not and will never be 'anti-smoking'.. We all are aware, i'm sure, that well, fags stink and can make you quite a bit ill.

When I gave up I had strong urges for 3-4 months and sometimes even now i could murder one but luckily I didn't keep any in the house(I'm the kind of person that if it's there, i use it) so have not given in. Sometimes if Chris is going to the shop I ask him to get me some, by the time he's asked if I'm sure I've changed my mind! Don't beat yourself up over half a fag, as others have said congratulate yourself for all those you haven't had. That said don't get into the mind set of I've had half of one, one more won't hurt and then another etc

If it were me, I wouldn't worry one little bit about it, the odd fag now and again is zillion times better than smoking them all day every day onwards and upwards I say, you may or may not have a few more before they are just a thing of the past.

I had a whole pack while I was on holiday for 11 days, while yes that's bad, it's also less than I would have previously smoked in just one day. Still now (because my wife smokes) I ask for a drag of one of hers and the best thing about that is it reminds me how much I prefer my e-cigs and the fact that I need to wash my hands afterwards. I also have almost 100 silk cut sitting on top of my microwave which I have no desire to smoke, in fact it annoys me because all the money in that pile of fags is what I could have had for more kit. Don't beat yourself up over it, we've all slipped, it's the getting back up that's easier with e-cigs. Oh, and if all else fails, sometimes more shineys can reignite the interest
