Hi there, I was directed to this lovely friendly, and informative forum via another non-e-cig forum, and I'm so pleased. I've found a lot of good advice just by reading! My husband, who has never been very enthusiastic about stopping smoking, bumped into someone using an e-cig, and being a gadget fan, wanted to know all about it. Then he found that the shopkeeper next door uses one, and he ordered an ego-t e-cig. He's been using it fairly regularly for the past week quite successfully. I've tried, but the process of inhaling the vapour is making me cough wretchedly. I've ordered a couple of different liquids, and am trying to refine my technique so that this doesn't happen, as I really really want this to work! Anyway, thank you for the forum, it's really helped so far - Jeannie x

Hi again jeannie Sometimes it is because you are inhaling as if it were a cig, don't do this it makes you cough, take a puff, not too big, hold it in your mouth, don't take it down and let out through your mouth or nose I have done the coughing thing lots too

Hi johanino and Beautycat! Glad you found me and thank you for your help on the other forum The videos were really helpful, and right now I am jumping up and down with JOY!!! it was partly my technique that caused the raucous coughing, and having looked at the videos, now have a better technique. I also ordered some different juice from a different company as I was still coughing with the original juice. It turned up this morning, and lo and behold, I AM VAPING !!!!! Only had one cig today (normally I'd have had about 3 or 4 by now!) Thank you for the welcome everyone. I'm really looking forward to this particular journey. - Jeannie x

As you've already got an Ego charger, you could always get a Ego C-Twist battery for yourself and use the variable voltage to dial the vapour production back too, I found that was when I could find the right "temperature" of all of my different juices. Safercigs have a good deal on them this weekend for under £20 allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=suppliers&thread=12272&page=1#248975As an added bonus you each get an e-cig then and can swap all the parts, (I was going to write "swap juices" but it sounded so wrong).

A warm welcome from me Jeannie. You may find you need to modify your technique a little, using an ecig as opposed to a ciggy. I don't tend to draw and inhale as I used to, but have a few chugs and hold the vapour in my mouth for a few seconds, before taking a little down and exhaling the rest. Congrats to your hubby.

Hi Jeannie and welcome to the forum. When I was smoking and I got a dry hacking cough, I would switch to Menthol cigarettes. I do the same with e-cigs and indeed I end each day with an hour or so of a menthol vape. www.jacvapour.com/10ml_20ml_eliquid-bottle_of_menthol_DK_flavour_e-liquid.htmlThis is the stuff I like. It is made just up the road from you, in Dunfermline I think. I am sure it would solve you throat problem but still give you the satisfying vape that you are looking for.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome everyone!!! I was just discussing flavours with hubby. He isn't interested, but I was just thinking that a menthol one would be very pleasant. (I have a slight pan-drop addiction- mint imperials to the non scots) Thank you for the link. I'll go and have a wee look. Update on the finally successful vaping is that I've had only two ordinary cigs today, and have been quite satisfied with a wee pull or so on the e-cig. I can genuinely see myself replacing the ordinary cigs for the e-cig quite quickly. Can I ask a question about what to expect? I stopped smoking several years ago quite successfully (until I started again two years ago fool that I am!) and had to go through about 4 days of horrible withdrawal/anxiety/irritability/queasiness, this type of thing. Is there anything like that at all with the e-cig or should it be a fairly smooth ride because I'm still having nicotine albeit in a cleaner, less harmful way.

Don't hesiatate asking as many questions as you want to Jeannie No you shouldn't go through any of the horrible withdrawal symptoms as you are still getting your nicotine & still getting the hand to mouth habit plus the satisfying inhaling/exhaling vapour.

Thanks Chrissie, that's really good to know. Another question then.... On Tuesday we're flying from Edinburgh airport to Paris. Are e-cigs ok to go through airport security in our pockets or are we better putting them in hold luggage? - Jeannie x
