Going to give this a go myself Gothic, have been thinking about it for a while will be interesting to see what we come up with. I am no electrical engineer but I believe you can get samples from Texas Instruments if you want to go that far with your project.

I did look at texas instruments LM2596 board, I believe it's what Garry Dibley uses in his VV mods, but can't find anything saying how to link a read out to. I'm gonna go with the schematic above, as it requires a little more construction than buying a board ready made, and it's been a while since I've had reason to build a setup like this, it should keep me out of trouble for an hour or so Will be interesting to see what we each come up with cactus

Just so I'm sure on this, the yellow line is a 220 ohm resister?? More or less..It's a 220 ohm inline resistor from pin to pot.. The LM2596 is also a decent board: ClickyFor higher end mods you can use the DNA from Evolv..Breaktru has built some monsters. breaktru.com/smf/index.php?board=29.0See the modding forum for some of his mods. He really has a deep understanding of this stuff.

Yes that is the same 1S-6S led tester as in the Dena mod.. You could wire it through a slide switch to display both battery voltage and output voltage. See instructions on the Dena mod on how to wire it.

Anyone remember the thread about mods in animal-shaped torches? There was a penguin and a cow and a pig, but I can't find the thread to link to

Cool thought it could just be a case of adapting the wiring, but as this is my 1st time building and e-cig, I thought best to check. I'm much more used to computer boards and radios, so this is something I'm looking forward to it's been too long since I fired up my soldering iron

If you're going to use the circuit from Mamu with high drains it would be worth adding a 5.6v 1/4w zener diode to the control pin to stop the batteries draining below 6v (as a pair)

cool, I just want to build something I can play about with to learn more about the modding side of things, all Im worried about at this stage is being able to run from 3v to about 6v (7v at a push). That should allow me to experiment a bit before building something a little more serious Although the Torchy batteries do look tempting with 4000mah, that would keep me vaping for a few days between charges

I won't hesitate to ask, and I am grateful for all the help and advice given here already. This forum is a great place, and I am learning new stuff every day, and of course, wanting to learn more Once I get the components and start the build, I will put together a a photo and text step by step on the build, for those wanting to follow my progress, and to help others like me who are looking to start modding.

still trying to find the right enclosure, once I have that I will start getting the rest together, but I want it to be something unique, and that kinda fits my personality, lifestyle and humour. Lets face it a 6'1" goth with a light up green battery box mod kind looses something
