Hi Dusty, and welcome Sorry, but if gets pregnant she needs to give up nicotine altogether if at all possible. Even nic patches and gum are not recommended. Could try vaping 0%, then at least she'd get the hand-and mouth thing. I would agree with Giles, it is better to go to 0% than risk any issues or complication. The hand to mouth action will be there, as well as the inhale/exhale sensation, possibly even a slight throat hit depending on the juice. The bonus is that with an e-cig, the OH will still be able to get these things, possibly even the flavour (depending on the juice), where as with the stinkies she would have to give it all up.

Hi Dusty and #welcome2# Those kits that Chrissie linked to are really good value Hopefully if you and your wife were to get on well with vaping then perhaps your wife would find it quite easy to cut right down to 0 nicotine. If not I would discuss the situation with your doctor. Pregnant women can be prescribed NRT www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1756.aspx?CategoryID=53&SubCategoryID=534Nobody on this forum is medically qualified, so cannot really advise. My personal feeling is that vaping has to be less harmful than smoking!

It is if you're drinking that nicotine. It's poison afterall. I don't see how it makes a difference. fluoride is a poison too, aspartame/phenylalanine are pretty nasty too but they are eaten by pretty much everybody everyday. Maybe she should also stop brushing her teeth and stop eating too, she will be nice and healthy then for sure.

Dusty, Karma is spot on Your wife could start vaping using juice with a nicotine level that suites her & then if she does get pregnant, start to cut down on the nicotine Far better than to continue smoking IMHO.

What about a strong menthol juice, high voltage on a vv, and say 5mg?
Wouldnt that give a TH?

We are only pointing out things that we are aware of, and that they also need to bear in mind. I like a clear conscience and will always post if there are likely pitfalls.

There has unfortunately been some misinformation in this thread, probably with the best of intentions NRT can be prescribed to pregnant women by the NHS. I would urge that any pregnant woman who is using e-cigs as a form of NRT to be honest with the Doctor and Midwife.

Coming off a little bit hostile mate, it was in refrence to the coffee, I'm not saying people drink nicotine, but they do drink coffee. It was meant to be a bit of a joke, but ack nevermind.

I might live in Manchester, but I'm actually Scottish, born on the west coast in a place called Irvine. Don't tell anyone though.

Hello all. Thanks for all the posts, it makes for interesting reading. We had an off the record chat with our local doc in Tesco yesterday and his opinion was that UK made 'juice' was in his eyes without question much less damaging than tobacco products. So on that basis and the suggestions made here I'm off to buy my first E-Cig

Good luck dusty, And it's good to know that at least "off the record" doctors accept the health benefits of vaping over smoking
