Ah I see, I also speak German you see and kirsch = cherry, had no idea we had an alcoholic type cherry thing.

I think its more of a liquer made from cherries, if I remember correctly skwoddy, I may be wrong tho  I know that its usually used as one of the ingredients form Black Forest Gateaux. I have seen bottles of it in off-licences too............ I just thought it would give a nice kick to the cherry |
