I'm sure this has been done to death already, but what wire are you buying for your new aga coils? And where are you getting it from?
I did have a search but only found one ebay buyer from Macca.
Did Brian ever sort out his bulk wire buy?

.15 wire for a mesh wick is not really ideal, thicker wire is better. Min should be about .2 .15 is better suited to fibre/silica wicks of 2mm or less.

Mmmm, I'm looking on ebay now and wondering between .2 and .22. Ideally I'd like to just buy one. But I might try both.

I like a higher resistance than most, so I was just going to use the wire that came with it for a couple of rebuilds, see what resistance I get from that, and decide from there which gauge to purchase.

Also used wires.co.uk. I got some .15 & .20 Kanthal, plus their 400 mesh as a starter

For higher resistance: (2.5 +) 0.16 mm For medium resistance: (2.2-2.4) 0.18 mm For low resistance: (1.7-2 ohm) 0.2 mm For very low resistance; < 1.5 ohm 0.25 mm Kanthal D from here will do just fine. Kanthal A1 and A do have higher temp rating in that order but not by much. Initial resistance of the coil is only a base starting point. After a day or so of use the resistance will become higher and stabilise.

Thanks everyone. It's good to see it all written down in one place. I ended up buying 25 metres of .2 and .22 kanthal for £11.50 delivered from Ebay.
I'll see how I get on with that.

I ordered 50m of .15mm for my Vivis from here on Sunday and it was delivered today at a cost of about £8. That's a great price and fast delivery considering it's come from Germany. Only downside is that it's not on a reel, it's just coiled up, but I'll probably put it on a cotton reel when I have a spare few hours. He even threw in a couple of silica samples as well, so I'll definitely use him again in two years time when I need to replenish my stock.
