I have had pretty bad gum disease for several years despite daily flossing three times a day brushing and oraldene mouthwash after every drink and meal during the day, it has got significantly worse since taking up vaping I thought the initial worsening of inflammation was due to the blood supply returning and was hoping that once that calmed down I would see an improvement in the affected teeth/gums. What has happened is that the gums are starting to shrink back from all of my teeth now and the original ones are so bad the roots are exposed to the point where they enter the jaw bone and they are seriously loose!! :-[ (apologies to anyone eating supper) I need to visit my dentist really, though all they have done in the past is tell me to stop smoking! Getting a bit depressed about it all to be honest.

The PG in ejuice has a drying effect so make sure you you drink alot of fluids.
Giving up smoking will increase the bloodflow in your mouth too, you may find that your gums bleed or become sensitive for a couple of weeks, mine cleared up quite quickly.
If its not sensitivity to ejuice maybe you are just coming down with something? ???

It does take time for your body to recover, especially mouth related issues, in time, things do get better. There certainly hasn't been any evidence of vaping causing issues, I'm afraid it's the stopping smoking bit, that you don't get the warning for. My GP advised me to cut down slowly rather than a cold turkey swap over to vaping - that all went out the window as I'm still having a few rollies now

I had ulcers/sore mouth for weeks when I stopped smoking. I have to say it's fine now though, well I have a sore lip but can't quite decide if it's a cold sore coming on.

Clutter, I must admit, when my mouths not so sore im always burning it with hot food and drinks lol Mag, in a couple of places my gums are receding, my dentist says due to the fact that ive scrubbed my teeth over the years instead of brushing um lolol.......so I think if I used one of those things I may touch the ceiling lol Aw Pam, you have had problems havent you, roots exposed....oh must be so painful Azzie, you could be right, I may be coming down with something, we shall see. I wasnt expecting to stop smoking so quickly, but as soon as I bought my first e-cig I never touched a fag after. I think ill try and drink more fluids and see how my mouth is over the weekend. Thankyou for all your responses......Much appreciated

Hi Mary, I'll pop in here, I've had real problems with a very sore mouth with certain juices over the last couple of years that I've been vaping. I used to love a certain 'aftershock' liquid until my mouth got so painful that I just couldn't use it anymore. Problem is I can never remember if it's the PG or VG that causes me the problems, so I now have a 50/50 mix and have been fine since

Two and a half months in and getting worse (((( Pam )))) Have you been to see your Dentist? Mmmm maybe when ive got through these juices I should make sure they are 50/50 in future. Certain flavourings can also give you a sore mouth Mary, Cinnamon and Ginger are two well know culprits for this . . . .

I've got a small hole thing on my tongue which vaping makes sting, it only started this week. If it's not gone by next week, I'm going to pop to the doctors. I have been smoke free for nearly 5 months so I can't understand it, I thought my mouth would be passed all the gum and other problems you get from stopping smoking but, mine has also started getting sore and sometimes bleed when brushing.

Yes chiller, thats what I was thinking, I thought as ive been on e-cigs for over six months any problems I was gonna have would have shown themselves before now, had it been down to the juice. My gums bleed whenever I brush my teeth but my dentist says its normally the case when you stop smoking, dunno how long it lasts for though.

Smoking can mask underlying health issues, that might not necessarily come to to light, until after a few months of switching to vaping.
You and anyone else, really should go to see your GP/Dentist if symptoms persist Chiller . . . if only to have your mind put at rest.
