Sainsbury's pull Tobbacco sales in Scotland

I don't see the problem in taxing the massive supermarkets to sell these products (which have a massive effect on the NHS budget). If they don't want to pay you'll have to buy your cigarettes at a independent business. This could keep a few corner shops afloat and postpone the inevitable homogenisation of Britains streets cause by the rampant expansion of Tesco et al (and I work in a Sainsbury's local!).

RE no specials on alcohol - alocohol is a luxury and I don't personally buy my drink just by finding the cheapest way to get pissed (and I'm a student!).

i must say, i tend to agree with pada on this ... but then i again, i neither drink nor smoke.

Yep you are right there, smokers donate an extra 7.5 billion pounds over what it cost's to treat them, without them non smokers would be paying more tax.
