EEEEEK!!! I am a happy ex smoker

I have done a whole week! Cannot believe it, had the week from hell too ( gotta love the NHS and lack of staff!)
I walked past the desperate smokers outside the hospital entrance yesterday sat there in the freezing cold with IV's attached and decided that instead of lecturing them and doing nothing the hospital should hand out a free ecig during the smokers stay. Chances are a lot of them would continue to use it and at least would save them wandering off the ward and the harassed staff nurse I. E me looking for them.
Not going to ever happen as they have taken our biscuits away from us now due to money saving. Biscuits i ask you?Honestly millions needs saving and they have nabbed the bourbon creams!!
To any lurkers ( and i know you are there i was one for ages ha!) please give it a go. It sounds really complicated, my brain was fried trying to understand what to order and what bit goes where but once you actually get a kit in your hands tis easy

Piper have they also removed your biscuits??? It is carnage on my ward! Nurses having sugar crashes everywhere.
Some nice relatives left us some quality street today though so we survived (Just!)

As far as the NHS, luckily I've not had to use the facilities much in my life so far, but believe me, you and piper1 are greatly appreciated by the public, for the work you do in extremely difficult circumstances.

I have had 6 stays in hospital in the last 6 years.
I always return afterwards to hand in a tin of biscuits to the ward staff.
Only right really that I do something for them after they have done so much for me.

As for the NHS? I could tell you stories to make your toes curl up from both sides of the fence. My husband is a nurse and I have several complex health problems. They are a nightmare nowadays. The newest brainwave they have come up with to save money is not seeing you!! They now have telephone appointments where a nurse phones you up just to ask you how you are. This is for the pain management clinic. Can you believe it? Old people often have a tendency to say they are fine when they obviously are NOT! But this means they can just tick the box on them and shove their file away.

I'm still counting the days and haven't missed the stinkies at all. I'm really loving not having to go outside in the rain to a smoke, particularly at work when I see my colleagues coming back into the office drenched.
