Taing mhor! I was in Scotland three times for various reasons, almost nobody spoke English =) That wasn't any different in Sheffield, though.

When I was 19, I had been developing computer games for two years and I had a publisher in Sheffield that I needed to visit to finalize a game they wanted me to change. I basically got into my car in Fulda and stepped out again somewhere in the suburbs of Manchester because I needed gas.
So I entered that gas station that looked like a scene from Mad Max and in my finest school English tried to communicate with the blokes there. Fat chance =)
