Thanks Tim, I can't believe they actually fell for it. Also am I right in thinking the nurse who killed herself only transferred the call and someone else gave out the details?

from what I can tell it's the nurse that was giving out the details, but not 100% on that. I'm still hoping this is an extravagant payback hoax, because it's too sad if not.

It is very real I'm afraid, and it was the nurse who took the call, passed it on, not the one that gave out the details.
....they call it funny or a prank, but why would anyone want to prank any sick pregnant person in the first place? It wasn't right, or fair, or thought out, the DJ's, the lawyers, producers, should all be held accountable for this result.

Oh I'm not saying it was a good prank, not at all, in fact I would describe it as pretty darn sick, but they could not have even anticipated this as the outcome and don't deserve the guilt it'll leave them with. I saw calls for them to be prosecuted for manslaughter which in my opinion is totally wrong

No one will ever know what went through the poor nurses head for it to end the way it did, and no individual can be blamed for it. It shouldn't have happened, collectively the people involved in the making and allowing of this, should have 'thought' long and hard. Clocks can't be turned back, I just hope what is done or said next is something right.

This is a shame, the poor girl was tricked, i am glad tho to hear that the hospital had taken no action against her, and to see that wills and kate have made a statement expressing sorrow for the loss. I do feel that this was just a stupid prank, that has now turned bad

As i said way back at the beginning of the thread, Australian radio stations are obsessed with outdoing each other in this sort of thing all in a bid to increase ratings. I don't have one bit of sympathy for the DJs. This particular radio station has a lot of previous form in cruel and discusting hoaxes and pranks, yet still keep doing it regardless of who they hurt in the process just to make sure their station is top of the cut throat ratings war down there. Do you know that a couple of years ago this same station tried a prank on a 14yr old girl. They wired her up to a lie detector machine and started asking her questions live on air. Not sure how they got to this point, but, this poor kid ended up revealing live on the radio that she was raped at the age of 12. Instead of cutting the prank short, these creeps CONITNUED the interview asking her more questions!!!! They did get into a lot of trouble over it, but, it obviously has not stopped their vile practice. No, i certainly DO NOT feel sorry for them.

I don't feel one ounce of sympathy. It is a statement of how far we have descended in the name of "entertainment". Remember the Russel Grant / Jonathan Ross incident a couple of years ago where they wound up Andrew Sachs by telling him they'd had sex with his 21 year old grand daughter?? It has to stop.
Edited to remove OTT rant

Whilst true that no one could really have forseen such a tragic outcome, the fact remains that where there is a prank/hoax whatever you want to call it, there will be someone left feeling humiliated and embarrassed. That's not funny, it's cruel.
In this case the humiliation and embarrassment of the victim has been played out on the worldwide media and yes, the same media who were quite happy to replay the call on their 24 hour news programmes multiple times and splash it all over the front pages of their trashy newspapers are now calling for the heads of the "pranksters". The hypocrisy is breathtaking!
Perhaps finally, someone in a position of responsibility will take a long hard look at this idiotic practice of prank calling and realise how utterly infantile it is as well as being so cruel. It's just such a tragedy that, as ever, someone has to die before anything is done.

In this post Leveson world, none of the reports are saying, but it would not surprise me - I fully expect them to be back to business as usual before long. Tragic for the poor nurse who did nothing to deserve the original prank other than turn up for work.
