Thread Lubrication

Do people use any type of lubrication on the threads of their devices. I am thinking in particular the atty to mod connection as this is pretty heavily worked and some of the chinese metals on some devices are poor to say the least.

I wore my Lavatube out in a month and don't fancy doing it to other devices. Is there an answer other than be careful?
