FOXY, MM, etc - I just had notification that someone uploaded this video entitled "the E's are back in the nest ..."What nest? Is it Decorah? Dunno, am too busy to investigate just now ... ... ... OK, couldn't resist - it's NOT Decorah (but it's a super video anyway, do look). This is the Decorah nest at this moment: Oh well, I was so excited for a minute there, I didn't think!scylla x

Hi Scyll, just popped in very quickly - this is first thread I've looked at!! I'm surrounded by packing boxes, rubbish etc. Very tired - back giving me gyp. Will look properly at the vids later - if I get time. Grandson coming after work this evening to take more boxes to new place.
I thought I was organised!! MM

These Vids are amazing. Am I right in thinking theres some Kestrals nesting in canary wharf somewhere? I wonder if the rat/mouse was a vole as they have quite furry tails?

I don't know about the kestrels, Natz, I'm following my ospreys' migration (so far so good, fingers crossed) and the Plant Pot Owl in Jo-burg: I may have posted that already, but you know my alzheimer's is progressing well There are 2 chicks hatched and one to go, if it doesn't today then it looks bad for it. I am recording it all, but recording and editing software is very difficult (for me) to use expertly. There are LOADS of videos on my YouTube page. Oh, and there have been lots of problems with the video stream from Africam, so the poor quality is not all my fault scylla x

The householder has removed the unhatched egg - for one thing, she was concerned that if it broke the smell would be so bad they'd have to move Here's a tiny clip of PPO getting up-ended by a gust of wind It's all quite samey at nowadays, but when the chicks get more mobile it should be more interesting, I'm told. The chicks are growing leaps and bounds. scylla

Owlets' progress Last night No1 chick climbed up onto the pillar for the first time: Chicks think Mama is an intruder cos she drops off the pillar (an unfamiliar direction for her to come from) with a treat: scylla

I've seen mum and dad Dacorah back in the nest several times lately, they are busy with the 'nestoration.' D1 seems to have settled in her present location up North and several photos of her, complete with transmitter, in her new location have been posted. All is good. Fox

Thanks, Foxy there wasn't anything last time I looked. I've really got my hands full with the owlets, especially now that Merlin (the newly named No1) is venturing up and out and about. Mama PPO has to go into hospital with a bad cough, specialists are going to try to catch her tomorrow (cameras will be turned off, bah!) and take her to an avian vet. It is hoped that Papa will feed the chix, if not the "landlords" have a back-up plan. Chick No2 is called Timka. OMG! There's a wicked wind at the eyrie just now scylla

A couple of days ago Merlin fledged, sorta. He hasn't been far, but managed to get himself trapped between 2 electric fences on a neighbouring property. Tracy and Allan (the owls' hosts) had to brave the shocks to rescue him. Here is a photo taken when he'd been reunited with his sibling; Mama is just behind them, camouflaged rather well. Aww

Thanks Scyll, I've had a quick catch up here. Hopefully, we will have your commentry on 'our' eagles soon. I can't be around so much as I have a lot still to do in new flat. > MMa
