So after rewicking various things and using a Vamo for diff volts, im still at a dead end The taste i get after i rewick is horrible. I bought the mini Nova and the taste was fantastic using the head it come with. so good i burth out the head super quick. I rewicked it at 2ohms, using 0.16 Kanthal and some Fiberglass Silica Wick. The same juice that was once so nice is now horrible. Rewicked my CE4 (2.7ohms) still getting a horrible taste. Should i be doing something with the wick before i use it? I make sure its soaked in juice before i use it and once filling the tank i leave it for a good while before using it. Or could someone link me to another wick i could try? Thank god for Dual Coil Carts Ryan

OK Guys, here's how you cut down on "funky" tasting wicks, firstly you need to wash your hands or use gloves when handling wick. The oils on your skin/hand cream/fat from a kebab will get on the wick and taint it. Secondly after cutting it to the required length and before I wind the coil I always use a blowtorch to heat it up as hot as I can get it while using small pliers or tweezers to hold it. This will burn off any residue on the wicks. You could of course wash the wick, people used to recommend boiling it in clean water, I prefer my method. Keep it clean!

I use gloves May boil my 3m of wick and see how i get on with it. Be a shame to waste it. I find rewicking pretty easy just the damn taste doing my head in. I take it when you buy ready made heads there wick has allready been cleaned/heated up?

It's also down to the coiling process. Your coils must not be touching each other, they must be spaced with equal distance between, and they must not be too tight or too loose - I used to find the same funky taste was down to my coils being too loose - just the one turn maybe, on the end - there'd be a slight gap between coil and wick, and this caused funky badness. Really examine your coil closely. The slightest imperfection can bollocks up a coil. My two pence.

I may be stating the bleeding obvious here, but your coils arent too tight are they and strangling the wick?, or too loose and not making enough contact with the wick.

I've also known vapers to boil/simmer their wick in milk, as the properties in it, draw out and absorb the nasty tasting stuff.

When making a new wick and coil, I hold the wick on a pin/needle. You can then wind fairly tightly and when you remove the pin, the coil seems to sit quite nicely on the wick.
First draw or two may be a little funky as it beds in, but after that I've never had a problem.
