We all know the short falls of cig-a-likes, but let's face it, they were never meant to be a true vapers e-cig. They are there for when smokers cannot smoke a fag in a given circumstance. IE, when travelling or in a place where smoking is restricted.
7 or 8 months ago when I started vaping, it was the Skycig system that I was using. I got it on a special promotional offer of £12. At that time the 40 fags a day that I was smoking cost £13.16. The initial contents of the Skycig kit lasted me a week and saved me £80. Then being an inquistive kind of bloke, I took a cartridge apart to see what was in it and from there figured out that I could refill them myself. I only ever bought one 5 cartridge prefilled refill and I still have 3 unused cartridges. What came with the kit and 2 refills, did me for the month that I needed to change from being a 40 a day smoker to a 100% vaper. I continued as a Skycig only vaper for another 2 weeks until I got my first proper eGo type kit.
7 months ago there was almost nothing said in the media about e-cigs and if it was, it was usually buried where no one would see it. So it was through another unrelated forum that I even found out that such things existed. Back then most folks were directed towards cig-a-likes to start with.
Times are changing and the media and businesses are beginning to waken up to the health and financial implications of e-cigs and with it the public too. As that happens, cig-a-likes will take up their properly allocated position as a smokers standbye unit and information on the e-cigs that we use will become more available so that first time vapers can make informed choices about what kind of e-cig will best suit them.
I wouldn't take my Morris Minor to a Sports Car Rally just as I wouldn't take my Skycig to a Vaping Gathering, but my Moggy is has its place just as the Cig-a-likes has.
Perhaps I should build a Shrine in my house and on it place the Skycig and all its accessories. Because, whilst I no longer use it, it started me down a road of better health and wealth and in this day and age, there is very few things around that for 12 quid will make such a remarkable change in anyone's life.

When I first started out I was spending about £150/month on cartridges (couldn't refill them and they were £30/dozen) then I went the Ego route and now spend only about £20/month on juice.

Perhaps I should build a Shrine in my house and on it place the Skycig and all its accessories. I could do the same with my E-Lites. We could do a call to prayer most mornings..... (call to sacrifice more likely.... ) - - I do actually have a Shrine. Audrey Hepburn. (in my imagination.... )
