Yes, it was in my ebay account. I went to the checkout page to pay for the phone and this £800 kit was in the list of items on the invoice and added to my total to pay via paypal. I still havent heard back from Ebay yet. I am off out with daughter and grandkids this afternoon, but if they have not got back to me when i come home i shall contact them again.

Great, so that means you caught it before pressing the pay button, it should be easily sorted. Go enjoy your afternoon.

Geez what a mess all this has left me in tonight. Been out all afternoon and evening. Come home to find that because of the debarcle on Ebay last night, Paypal suspended my account AND refused to pay 3 transaction i have made recently. To say i was peed off is an understatement. I have had the embarrassment of the phone seller emailing me saying he didn't get his money. I also same issue with a subscription i paid and guess who the thrid one not to get his money was?.............. JASON! I am so embarrassed. Just PMed him to explain. What a mess

Oh dear Dolly, I can understand your embarrassment. I imagine Paypal have suspended your account as a security measure to protect your funds, but a bummer none the less

Oh dear I am sorry that you have had to go through that Dolly but I guess that looking on the bright side its preferable to having £800 paid out by mistake !! Hope they get it sorted out very soon for you.

Oh i know it had to be done, but they didnt even warn me so i could let everyone know whats going on. Thankfully the phone seller was very good about it and has now got his money. Haven't heard back from the others yet. One thing that really annoyed me about the bloke i spoke to from PP was his attitude. When i said that this was all very embarrassing for me as i have 100% good feedback and have never let anyone down he just said "oh don't worry about it. It happens to everyone at some point"...well it aint happened to ME in 12yrs!!

Sorry, Dolly, about the hassle you've had but glad it looks like you will get it sorted.
My question is off topic but I just have to ask what's the advantage of buying a phone on ebay? The reason I ask is that my phone is on its last legs. I'm only short of holding it together with cellotape and elastic bands. I'm nearing the stage where I'll have to replace it but I thought I would have to buy from a mobile phone shop where they transfer the numbers and hook me up with a service provider such as 02. How do you manage the service provider, etc. when buying from ebay?

You can put different sim cards in any one phone as long as it's unlockable - it does get a bit techy if you're not used to it though! I'm on giff gaff and a very good network they are too.

Dolly, post to ask for help on the ebay community boards - you will get far better help than from ebay support. Although you are a buyer rather than seller, I'd recommend posting on seller central - it's the nearest thing to the old Q&A board, so still the busiest - community.ebay.co.uk/forum/Seller-Central/7

TBH Addict, mobile phones on ebay are where the biggest & most common scams occur IMHO, you would be better off buying one from somewhere like Tescos. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if everyone disagrees with me as I hardly ever use my mobile due to such poor signals in my area.

Thanks Jen and Chrissie for your advice. I might try Tesco when the time comes but will continue nursing the old one as long as I can cos I hate getting used to a new phone.
Sorry, Dolly, for hijacking your thread. I'll bow out now and keep my fingers crossed that all gets sorted for you soon.

No worries Addict. I dont mind at all.
Thanks Chrissie. I will check the link out.
The reason i bought from Ebay is that i wanted an iphone 4s as i have an ipad too and everything syncs together. I cannot afford a brand new iphone so decided to look for a secondhand 4s version because lots of people are upgrading to the iphone 5 that was recently launched. Like Jen, i use giff gaff as i hate contracts. I dont really use mine for many calls or texts so it is a waste of money. Giffgaff gives me all i need for £10 a month. Lots of people sell unlocked phones which means they are no longer tied to any particular phone company.

How do you manage the service provider, etc. when buying from ebay? all you need is an un-locked fone ..simply take you sim from your old fone and place into your new one couple of things here 1 make sure all contacts are saved to sim and not the fone itself 2 u cant buy a iphone as they have micro sims.. 3 if you want to change provider ..say from orange to vodafone but still keep your same tel number ,,then u need to contact your current supplier and ask for a pac code this pac code then given to your new provider can be used to activate your new phone with new provider and same old tele number im not at all bad on mobiles :-) anything i can help with dont hesitate to ask :-)

Thanks Dolly and Kev. No chance of me ever getting an iphone. The very look of them scares the daylights out of me. I'm hanging on to my little old Nokia for dear life. My sister got a samsung something recently and loves it, which left me a bit peeved cos I like her to think that I'm a lot more tech savvy than her - a bit on the style of a kid who can spell cat talking down to one who hasn't learned the alphabet.

"oh don't worry about it. It happens to everyone at some point"...well it aint happened to ME in 12yrs!! It's never happened to me either and I've been using ebay for longer than I care to remember. I hope they get hold of this scammer soon Dolly and rip him to shreds, what a worry for you, I was expecting it to be all sorted by now. (((Hugs)))
