Hi all. I dropped my vamo and never really thought anything of it as I picked it up and all was still working fine. I've now take battery out and have noticed there is a slight scratch in the plastic covering about 5mm down from the nipple top, in the slightly grooved bit. It's an AW 18650. Do you think this will still be ok to use? I had previously been using it for the best part of half a day since I dropped it with no problems and I'm guessing it was the drop that caused the damage? I do have a few spares so I know I will probably be best to just dispose of it, but it is such a tiny little mark (and I'm a tight git) lol. Any advice appreciated.

I would have thought if it is not buldging from the battery it should be ok?.
I personally wouldnt even have thought twice about using it! but dont take that advice as biblical lol I am sure someone more knowlegable will come soon.

Hard to give you an answer, The only thing I would say dump it because where the damage is done at the nipple I would think it will only get worse and you could be caught short.

Thanks for the replies guy's. There isn't any noticeable damage besides the small nick in the plastic where the actual plus sign is. I haven't put it on charge or binned it yet as waiting to see what other people's views are. I guess it could be a case of "if in doubt, chuck it out"

I guess it could be a case of "if in doubt, chuck it out" Probably the safest thing to do! we do use these batteries very close to our faces!

maccafan and blakey seem to be experts about batteries so it may be worth sending one of them a personal message in case they dont see this thread.

Thanks Juile, ill do that. As Karma rightly said, we do use these devices near our face so better to be safe than sorry.

I'd bin it just to be safe.
But if you did want to keep it you could put a ring in insulation tape around the battery where the nic is. The case is negative anyway so no shorting problem. BUT the first few time you charged it i'd take precautions like using a charge safe bag.

That little hole at the bottom of your mod is a vent hole. If the battery explodes then the flames are vented out of the bottom away form your face. It's happened twice that I know of (once stacking batteries) and I've heard of one of them going bang when charging and making a big mess. It's probably ok, but if it isn't it doesn't bear thinking about!
