All the liquids have now been steeping for 14 days and I along with Sharlene (always good to have a second opinion) have spent the day running them through clearos, drippers and Spheroids. The results have proved quite interesting. I did try taking some photos, but with the lighting and crappy camera they didn't show the true colours so I'll leave them out for now. The Green Apple's colour in both was the same, a very clear mix. The one using my original method had a stronger fruitier taste but the Atmos method produced a more subtle balanced flavour which I prefered. Sharlene liked the original method more but did agree the Atmos one felt more matured. The Harvest Berry Pie had very distinctive results, the Atmos method produced a much darker liquid with a stronger aroma. The one using my original method tasted rather bland compared to the Atmos one where I could almost taste each individual berry along with the pie crust. We both agreed the Atmos method won hands down with this one. The American Red Tobacco's colours were very close, the Atmos one a tinge darker. Once again on tasting the Atmos method tasted more mature, it was a smooth smokey taste as expected. My original method was almost there but I could still taste a slight after taste of glycerin. We both agreed this one was very close but the Atmos method tasted more complete. Perp's Vanilla custard produced the same colour in both batches. Using my original method resulted in that gorgeous custard taste, nice throat hit and clouds of vapour just as it always does. The Atmos method simply didn't, the taste hadn't developed at all and for some reason the throat hit was lacking as well. We both agreed that the Atmos method does not seem to work with the custard at all well. So there you go, everything was tried in various atties etc. to make sure a dodgy coil didn't give false results. What have I learnt? The Atmos method does seem to produce some very good results and is a lot easier as well, also these experiments can leave you feeling very light headed.
