I'm seriously wanting to get into the rebuilds. I no a bit about electrics but want to no more about testing a coil before using it. Can anyone shed some light

Easy mate all you have to do is when your coil is built you connect the probes off your meter to the center pin on the atty and the steel threaded bit if you know what i mean? and make sure you have resistance if your resistance is too low you have a short if you get nothing its open circuit (break in circuit somewhere) Have a look at this here

Hello mate
If you haven't got a device like a Vamo which will protect your batteries from a dodgy coil from shorting, you should get a multimeter to measure the resistance. This vid explains how to do it.
