maybe a new smoke detector then ? Smoke alarms fine too, just very sensitive, hence I don't stand under them vaping Weird - we had a loft conversion done a couple of years back and had to have smoke detectors in each room fitted because of the regs. The bloody things are so sensitive and kick off even when the oven door is opened from the heat, several metres away. When I work, I chain vape, sitting directly underneath one of them and never had a peep out of it ... oven chips however ...

It all depends on the type of smoke alarm.
Ionization Smoke Alarms wont be set off by vaping.
Photoelectronic Smoke Alarms may be set off.

If the airline expressly bans e-cigs, then attempted vaping is not recommended. Sorry to be a killjoy, but they can (and might) throw you off. It's simple. They make up their own rules - and the breaking of airline-specific rules (regardless of the "legality") may incur mandatory fines, or lead to passengers being escorted off the plane if still on the ground. If you want to vape...maybe ask? or stealth vape at your own risk, or fly Ryan Air.....

I couldn't tell you. I broke my smoke alarm with my head. Who puts a smoke alarm at the lowest point on the ceiling above the stairs. It was bloody sore.

Having seen a friend of mine arrested (in a rather frightening and physical encounter with armed Police) whilst sat on the tarmac at Katowice (Poland), It's best not to mess around on airplanes.

Where I'm sat at the moment is a scant 5' from the smoke alarm, which reminds us of its battery charge every time I toast some bread! I've never had a peep from it in 6 months of vaping, so I must be doing something right! Andy

I agree and I'm afraid I wouldn't advise it. I haven't tried it and I know Des said he has, but I still wouldn't do it myself. It just doesn't seem worth it for the hassle it may entail.
